Why do you like to listen to some music over and over again?
First, answer this question to yourself. Did you say that it is because you like the music? Then why don’t you listen to it several times in a row? Second, why do you like a whole piece of music and not just a tune, but still remember only the tune?
These questions may seem unrelated to you, but they have a common explanation. It is the knowledge gap that shapes your wish to listen to such music.
You already know a lot about the music you listen to, but you can’t remember everything of it. For example, you may be unsure about a turn of the melody or have forgotten how it develops throughout the piece. You have a pleasant memory of that music, but it is still a mere memory. You cannot acquire new information from it, so you have to listen to the music again.
Then the main source of pleasure is not the music per se, but what you extract from it. You exult at filling that knowledge gap that you originally had: you recall a turn of a tune or add a few checkpoints to the piece to better navigate through it.
The same logic works within the piece. While the tune is evolving, you forget something about it, but in the next verse of the song or phrase of the instrumental piece you learn what you wanted to know and your gap again narrows.
As a rule, listening to the record once is enough to eliminate the gap, and the second time in a row seems unnecessary. Moreover, if you try to do it, you might get disappointed, as has sometimes happened to me. The melody does not appear as brilliant anymore, the tempo and timbre do not excite as much, and so on.
After a while, however, you realise that you want to listen to that music again. As time progresses, the gap reappears and forces you to eliminate it. We have come full circle.

Les crevettes
Hier, j'ai eu de l'intoxication alimentaire. C'était miserable. J'ai vomi vers une heure du matin et ça m'a rendu très déshydraté pendant tout le reste du jour. Je crois que la coupable est les crevettes que j'avais mangé la veille. Heureusement, je me sens beaucoup plus mieux aujourd'hui.

My first time in the plataform
Today was my first time in a new plataform for languages. I had a interview with a person with advanced english level. In the interview, he asked me about my country, my age and my name, after a few minutes he told me "You are able to talk with others people with intermediate english level". I felt exicted and a little bit nervous.
Immediately, he directed me to another room, when I talked with a female from Chinesse. It was a kindable conversation and I enjoyed her comments. After, I was directed an another session again, but I had talk with another person, specificaly with a man from US. His accent is native and his expresions were very fluent. He give me some advices and I hope take the advices for improve my skills
Today was a great day. I am still very excited.

Je suis rconnaissant
Je suis reconnaissant pour voyager à Paris et à Lille toute seule un mois avant les Jeux Olympiques à Paris cet été. Je suis aussi content pour gagner un nouveau emploi à Cornell University. Il y a d'autres choses que je suis reconnaissant :
1. J'ai pris deux leçons sur la technologie sur Lingoda pour la première fois.
2. J'apprends l'allemand.
3. J'ai trouvé des nouvelles amies.
4. Je peux faire de l'escalade.
5. Je peux danser.
6. J'habite dans une grande maison.
7. J'ai amélioré mon français.
8. Je peux lire des livres avancés en français.

Venerdì 23 agosto
Sono stanchissima, ma felice di aver fatto tutto cio che ho avuto da fare oggi. Ho fatto la spesa, sono andata al parco con il mio gatto e ho avuto la lezione d'italiano.
Credo di prendermi una pausa dallo studio per qualche giorno. Voglio prendermene una davvero questa volta.
È andata bene la lezione e ho imparato alcune parole utili riguardo ai gatti in generale. Ogni lezione parliamo solo in italiano e l'insegnante mi corregge quando faccio un errore.
Non mi pare che mi corregga molto, quindi penso che lo studio da sola mi abbia aiutato.
Non vedo l'ora di concludere la giornata con un libro interessante di Stephen King e andare a letto. Mi serve il riposo.

Wie geht es dir? Ich hoffe es geht dir schon besser. Mir geht es zurzeit super. Ich schreibe dir diese E-Mail , weil leider konntest du ja nicht auf der Abschluss Party kommen . Sie war im Guthe Institut in unserem Klassen Zimmer. Das war wirklich sehr schön. Alle Lehrer ,Kollegen und Kolleginnen waren in die Party. Die Party hat uns allen sehr gut gefallen. Wir haben Muzik gehört. Wir haben viel Fotos gemacht. Es gab nicht nur Viel essen , sondern auch viele Getränke.
Ich schlage vor, das du mein Heimat Land besuchen? was hältst du davon?

Historia de un amor. Segunda parte
Por favor tened en cuenta que aprendo el castellano.
Encontré mi pastilla de felicidad. Pero cuál? El aprendizaje del español. Ya tenía un nivel bueno en inglés, y por mucho tiempo, estaba orgullosa de que lo aprendo y lo hablo. Cuando ya fuiste muy cerca de nivel avanzado, paré de sentirme bien o únicamente por hablar inglés. Ni por nada. Cuando solamente empecé a aprender la lengua, pensaba algo como "cuando aprenderé hasta el avanzado voy a considerarme guay". Es un idioma bastante conocido y simple, se aprende fácilmente, y aquí en mi pueblo muchos lo hablan, especialmente los jóvenes. En mi opinión, es algo que todos deben conocer al menos un poco. También necesitaba algo de lo que después podría considerarme "guay", quería conocer una lengua menos conocida aquí y elegí el español. Y nunca me he arrepentido de que lo escogiste en vez de italiano. Escogiste el español solamente como un challenge, ni tenía una meta muy clara como "quiero vivir en España" y así, quería ver si soy capaz de aprender una lengua completamente sola o no? Ninguno de los profesores, sólo yo y los nativos. Aunque aún ahora mi nivel no es tan avanzado, puedo responder a esta pregunta. Soy capaz de lograr cada objectivo que tengo escondido en mi mente. En el proceso me di cuenta que tengo mucho poder y determinación y con todos mis deseos, puedo obtener cualquier cosa. Eso es lo que me daba el español, porque nunca creí tanto en mis fuerzas antes de aprenderlo. Las clases y mis libros nunca fueron aburridos para mí, ni las partes gramáticas (porque a la mayoría les gusta más consumir un tipo de contenido que hacer los ejercicios gramáticos). Por ejemplo, cuando aprendí el inglés, después de mis clases siempre sentí una alegría ligera, pero con el español mis sentimientos fueron más poderosos. Aún puedo llorar de alegría como recientemente, escuché una canción de mi banda preferida argentina y creí que su canción es sobre el amor, vi un análisis de la letra donde se dice que esa tiene una conexión con la junta militar de Argentina. Y ya imaginas, yo que estoy enganchada por la historia y español como me sentí. Encontré la información sobre la junta, la leí, entonces un poco sobre otras dictaduras de Argentina y sentí una lágrima cayendo en mi mejilla.
Mientras ahondaba en profundidad de la lengua, me encontré atraída por la historia y cultura de los países hispanohablantes, ya leí unas obras sobre España o de literatura latinoamericana, escucha mucho el rock argentino cual no es conocido en mi país. Eso hizo que el idioma cobrará viva en mis ojos en cierto modo que no podía imaginar. La gente me dice que nunca han visto a alguien que esté tan motivado por una lengua, aún mi amiga me ha dicho que puedo enseñar el español porque yo podría transmitir mi pasión por otros. Empecé a aprender el español sin metas, y ya mirando hacia el futuro, quiero pasar un examen de español como lengua extranjera, estudiar en España y trabajar con la lengua. Me di cuenta que puedo ver un futuro donde el español se encuentra como un pasatiempo, pero una parte central en mi vida y carrera.

Warum? Die Insel St. Martin, eine kleine Insel der Kleinen Antillen, deren nördlicher Teil ein französisches Teil ein Hoheitsgebiet ist, und deren südliches Teil ein Niederlandes Hoheitsgebiet. Dort teilen die zwei Grenzen.

Les impôts
Le sujet de ce bulletin est des impôts et la question est quels sont les pays où l’on paye le plus d’impôts ? Ici, en Australie, les australiens plaignent que nos impôts sont excessifs. Je me demande si c’est vrai. Après tout, nous avons un système de santé universel et un bon programme de services sociaux.
Je reconnais que les impôts jouent un rôle important. Les impôts financent des services public et subventionnent les services essentiels comme l’éducation, l’infrastructure et la santé. Cependant, je suis pleinement consciente que le niveau de taxation fluctue considérablement d’un pays à l’autre.
Selon mes recherches et les données de l’OCDE, je n’étais pas du tout étonnée d’apprendre que le niveau de taxation le plus élevé est dans les pays scandinaves comme le Danemark, la Suède et la Norvège. Néanmoins, j’étais surprise de découvrir que les citoyens dans les pays du Golfe comme les Émirats arabes unis et le Qatar ne payent rien.

22.08.24 - L'enigmistica
Negli ultimi anni sono diventati molti diffusi i giochi enigmistici pubblicati ogni mattina dal New York Times. Hanno cominciato a prendere piede circa due anni fa con il gioco “Wordle” in cui si deve indovinare qualsiasi parola di sei lettere tra soltanto sei tentativi. Nel 2024 ha decollato “Connections”, un gioco in cui si raggruppa un miscuglio di parole in quattro categorie ognuna collegata a un tema diverso, oltre a “Spelling Bee” in cui si deve formare tra sei lettere il maggior numero di parole distinte possibile. Oggi mia sorella mi ha fatto vedere il nuovo gioco di tendenza che si chiama “Strands”. È un tipo di parole intrecciate: il suo scopo è di trovare tutti le parole collegate a un certo tema abbastanza vago, e lo scopo più preciso viene nascosto tra le lettere. Ho sempre amato i giochi enigmistici (sebbene faccia sempre fatica a riempiere i cruciverba). Vorrei scoprire se questi giochi moderni esistono in italiano, sarebbe un modo eccellente di ampliare il vocabolario.

Hanaさん (https://langcorrect.com/journals/all-about-lily-chou-chou/) のおすすめで「リリイ・シュシュのすべて」というえいがを見ました。Hanaさんはこの映画を”cult classic film”（カルトクラシック映画？）と呼びました。カルトクラシックの物が好まれるかどうかは人によって違うと思います。これは私の個人的な考えですが、映画がちょっと遅いと思います。メタフォー（隠喩？）は重すぎると思い、例えばつださんはサラリーマンと会った後で中に汚い感じたから運河で服と体を汚しました。具体的すぎたと思います。

All the glass in the world has disappeared
I am trying to get into the habit of writing every day. I accomplished my goal of taking the IELTS exam and getting a decent score, but I still want to improve my skills. That is the reason I was looking for a book with a bunch of writing ideas. One of the topics I found was this question: what would happen if all the glass in the world disappeared?
I think the world will not change much. Many of the products that are made of glass can easily be replaced with another material, like plastic. In fact, I remember that when I was younger, I frequently saw soda in glass bottles, but now it is uncommon and plastic has replaced the material. Probably a significant change with the disappearing of glass will be the windows. All the windows I see are made of glass, but in that case, probably with current technology we are able to replace everything. The only thing that would be impossible to substitute will be natural resources.

Ich brauche eure Hilfe bei meiner Vorbereitung.

hiermit möchte ich meinen Unmut bezüglich Ihrer Dienstleistungen bekunden.
Ich hatte schon immer Interesse am Reiten und habe daraufhin gründlich im Internet recherchiert, wie ich mir das Reiten am besten aneignen kann und bin ich auf Ihren Reitkurs gestoßen. ich habe mich bedenkenlos dafür angemeldet, da es mich enorm angesprochen hat und vielversprechend war. Bedauerlicherweise entsprach sie nicht meinen Erwartungen.
Trotz meiner bisherigen Erfahrungen bin ich lediglich auf dem Reitplatz geritten, obwohl es in der Anzeige die Möglichkeit für gemeinsame Ausritte für Erfahrene gab. Des Weiteren stand wieder ein Kleinpferd nach Ponys zur Verfügung, was mein Kleiner Bruder zum Weinen gebracht hat.
Ich möchte auch darauf hinweisen, dass ich vielmals vor 11 Uhr also innerhalb der Öffnungszeiten angerufen habe, jedoch ist niemand rangegangen.
Aus diesen Gründen fordere ich sowohl eine ausdrückliche Entschuldigung als auch eine adäquate Entschädigung von Ihnen.

Tatoeba (From Your English Grail)
It means ‘for example’ in Japanese. tatoeba.org is a very useful resource for learning any foreign language, not just English. Tatoeba is a bank of sentences in different languages and their translations: registered users may create new sentences, preferably in their native language, and translate existing ones into, again preferably, into that language.
The benefit of the platform is double: creators of sentences practice both their creativity and words choice, and visitors search the tatoeba corpus for examples of words usage and collocations.
All this is maintained by volunteers. The website is a little old-fashioned, but then it works faster than modern nifty ones. And, as all the work is done with passion, tatoeba has an exceptionally friendly community. There are admins and corpus maintainers who sometimes even suggest corrections to your sentences, if they were not written in your native language. One of the admins has a very useful profile page (https://tatoeba.org/en/user/profile/AlanF_US) with a list of practical resources to improve your language level. For example, it gives you an instrument to get a free feedback on your writing.
