En feintant qu'on parle une langue étrangere, on apprend
C'est une vérité banale que seulement mémoriser le vocabulaire, la grammaire, ou même acquérir un niveau de compréhension oral ne signifie pas maîtriser une langue étrangère. Il y a un élément plus important dans le puzzle - il faut vraiment croire qu'on en peut parler. Bien sûr, ça c'est une compétence qu'on n'acquiert pas qu'en parlant. Par la suite, il est complètement impératif qu'on parle - et aussi que les autres nous comprennent. Cependant, fréquemment les apprenants font face au problème de la honte - en sachant que leur niveau n'est pas encore très élevé, ils se taisent, en sabotant eux-mêmes dans l'apprentissage. Ça c'est souvent le cas quand on parle de classes formaux, d'un cours de langue - donc il serait mieux de trouver un environnement bien différent pour pratiquer. Peut-être, un où il faudra essayer de parler le langage, car il n'y aurait pas quelque autre option - un endroit où les gens ne parleraient pas quelque langue qu'on parle aussi. Par conséquent, après quelques semaines d'avait parlé la langue, on pourrait croire qu'effectivement on en parle.
Ça peut sonner un peu absurde, mais pour illustrer mon point, je voudrais raconter que m'est passé pendant un voyage dans les paysages de l'ancienne union sovietique, où les gens généralement ne parlent pas l'anglais. J'ai croisé toute la steppe magnifique de Kazakhstan, bien comme le Siberie, en faisant l'autostop. A ce-moment la, ma connaissance de russe se consistait de quelques semaines de Duolingo et un'impression que le russe, ça certainement sera un peu similar au polonais, ma langue materne. Apparemment, ça a suffit - même si ma tête m'avait fait mal, j'ai conversé pendant les heures longues en roulant les routes longues de la Russie en parlant la langue - et si les russes eux-mêmes ont pensés qui j'en parlais, qui serais-je pour dire non ?
Pour résumer, si on pourra convaincre les autres qu'on parle leur langue, ça c'est bien proche de convaincre nous-mêmes. Alors, si toutes les parties de la conversation seront persuadées de ça... Ce ne serait pas ça donc la vérité ?

"Batik" Kuchen
Ich bin nicht so ein Süßigkeiten-Liebhaber. Ich liebe gerner etwas Salziges. Allerdings gibt es in Malaysia viele verschiedene Arten von Süßigkeiten. Am liebsten ist “Kek Batik”. Auf Deutsch das bedeutet “Batik Kuchen”. Batik ist ein wunderschöner handbedruckter Textilstoff aus Südostasien. Der Kuchen heißt so, weil er wie eine traditionelle Batik-Motiv aussieht.
Die Hauptzutaten sind “Milo” und “Marie” kekse. “Milo” ist ein Pulver aus Kokoa, Zucker und Creme. Es ist das Lieblingsgetränk der Malaysier. "Marie" kekse ist wie der deutsche Butterkekse.
Ich habe das gerade bemerkt, dass es in Deutschland einen ähnlichen Kuchen gibt. Er heißt “Kalter Hund”. Ich weiß nicht, warum er “Kalter Hund” heißt und ich finde das sehr komisch. Das ist aber egal (Aber das macht nichts), weil sie beide sehr köstlich sind!

Une drôle de journée.
Une coupure d’électricité dans supermarché, c’est la panique.
Mercredi dernier, à Toronto, un supermarché bien connu dans la ville a perdu sa électricité pendant la plus importante heure du jour, à la fin de l’horaire de travail. Le supermarché était rempli par consommateurs, qui avaient peur de la situation.
Les employés du supermarché se sont inquiété par la possibilité de vols. Heureusement, l’électricité est revenue au travail quelques minutes plus tard. Aucune épicerie n’a été volée et tous les consommateurs ont pu reprendre leurs activités courrantes.

Unser Heizungskessel ist kaputt
Wir mieten unsere Wohnung und, seit dem ersten Winter, der wir hier gewohnt haben, ist der Heizungskessel kaputt :(. Irgendwie funktioniert der Mikropchip komisch und manchmal denkt er, dass jemand das heiße Wasser benutzt. Dann, wenn er zu heiß ist, weil niemand das heiße Wasser benutzt, wirft er einen Fehler und stürzt ab. Danach warte er für einen handbetätigten Neustart und heizt kein Wasser mehr. Als wir die Mietungsagentur Bescheid gesagt haben, haben sie nichts gemacht, weil wir noch heißes Wasser haben. Aber unsere Energierechnung steigt :(. Wir versuchen freilich mit ihm klarzukommen, aber ich hoffe unsere nächste Wohnung nicht dasgleiche Problem hat.

Diese Nummer ist heutzutage vielleicht nicht sehr merkwürdig, aber glaub es oder nicht sie brachte Pythagoras dazu, einen Mann in der Antike zu töten. Die Nummer ist irrational, das heißt es kann nicht als ein irreduzibles Verhältnis a/b geschrieben werden. Hier ist ein kurzer Beweis, annehmen, dass die Nummer kann wirklich als a/b geschrieben werden, deshalb a/b = √2 und a² = 2b², und wir schließen daraus, dass a gerade ist a=2k, aber dann haben wir 4k² = 2b² und deshalb b auch gerade ist! Das ist natürlich absurd, weil wir mit ein irreduzibles Verhältnis angefangen haben! Das war eine Überraschung für Pythagoras, weil er glaubte, dass jede Nummer sollte als ein irreduzibles Verhältnis a/b geschrieben werde. Der Schock war so groß, dass einige sagen, er habe den Entdecker getötet. Mathe-Geschichte ist manchmal voller Drama.

Diary:Why Gen Z struggle with their mental health more (pt.1
"Why do gen-z seem to struggle with their mental health more than other generations did?" While I was browsing Reddit today, this question caught my eyes.
Mental health issues exist in all age groups, they have always been around and the difference is openness that the Internet brings which help these young people find the way to cut off the circle. However, at the same time, social media makes people feel shitty because they're always comparing their life to the fake ideals of influencers and others. And a lot of publicity on the Internet and in the classroom may also give children the undesirable psychological implication that it seems everyone has a mental illness and that mental illness is a badge of honor, whereas in the past it was something that humiliated masculinity.

Ein Brief zum Vermieter
Sehr geehrter Herr Müller,
ich hoffe, Ihnen und Ihrer Familie geht es gut. In letzter Zeit habe ich Probleme mit dem Nachbarn, der kürzlich nebenan eingezogen ist (Krieger).
Die erste Sache, die ich sehr schlimm finde: er wirft seine Zigarettenstummel in den Garten, ohne sie zu löschen, was sehr gefährlich ist, da es jeden Moment zu einem Feuer kommen könnte (siehe Fotos), ganz zu schweigen von dem Müll, der durch die Zigarettenstummel selbst verursacht wird.
Zweitens: Er ist sehr laut. Bis vor kurzem hatten sie jeden Samstag wöchentliche Treffen (die, glaube ich, seit Dezember verboten sind), bei denen man laute Musik und Leute hören konnte, die sich sehr laut unterhielten und lachten, was nach 12 Uhr endete. Einmal, als sie eine Party hatten, klopfte ich an seine Tür, um zu fragen, ob sie ihre Musik leiser stellen könnten, was er bejahte, aber nach einer Weile drehte er sie wieder auf. Und da das Wohnzimmer des Nachbarn direkt neben meinem Schlafzimmer liegt, können Sie sehen, wie problematisch das ist.
Außerdem hört der Nachbar meist täglich in hoher Lautstärke fern, was in meinem Zimmer zu hören ist. Am vergangenen Samstag hatte der Nachbar eine Party, so dass ich das Bedürfnis hatte, die Polizei zu rufen. Ich denke aber, dass sie vielleicht mein Wählen gehört haben und genau in diesem Moment ihre Party beendet haben. Als die Polizei ankam, war nichts mehr da und der Lärm hatte aufgehört.
Kann ich etwas dagegen tun?

Phone Booths
I like telephone booths in town. Due to the spread of mobile phones, the number of public phones is decreasing. So, I feel nostalgia because I sometimes used a public phone when I was a kid before getting a mobile phone. Furthermore, I like phone booths, especially at night. There is gleam around a phone booth, so it's vaguely beautiful and I am somehow relieved by it when I am walking through an empty street. I guess this is because the phone indicates a connection with someone.

Exchange Bread
I bought bread at a grocery. I got home and then noticed that the package of the bread was torn. I thought I broke it on my way, but the bread already became dry and hard, so I figured out the package was torn before I bought it. I forgot to buy milk, so I went back to the grocery and had it exchanged for a new one and bought milk. I'll make sure if packages are ok before buying.

Le tour de la foi.
Une jeune Australienne décide de faire le tour du monde à pied pour une bonne cause.
Elle a pris la décision il y a plusieurs années, quand’elle était encore au lycée. Martha a toujours étudié dans des écoles avec un lien religieux. Autrement dit, l’église a une place très important dans sa vie depuis quelques années.
À cause de ça, elle a organisé un tour pour propager sa foi. Le tour est censé commencer par le Chine et, ensuite, elle ira jusqu’en Europe, puis aux Amériques et, enfin, en Australie de nouveau. Elle a d’espoir de rassembler le maximum des personnes à son parcours.

La température
Il fait extrêmement froid dehors. En ce moment la température est de -35 Celsius avec un refroidissement éolien de -48. Il est 4h du matin, alors il ne fera pas aussi froid pendant la journée demain, mais je vais rester à l'intérieur autant que possible quand même. J'espère qu'il va commencer à se réchauffer dans les prochains jours.

Food poisoning
I got food poisoning about three weeks ago. The food poisoning probably caused by eating raw chicken. I had a fever, headache, and diarrhea for about three days. I was in bad shape. My mother says that my family easily gets food poisoning from eating raw meat. So, I'll never eat it again because I don't wanna go through that again. It was so hard. Food poisoning brought about vomiting and diarrhea at the same time, so I had to vomit to toilet where I had had diarrhea. It smelled so bad. The worse it smelled, the more momentum of vomiting increased. I'm sorry about this dirty story. I just want you to see how I felt terrible. That's about it.

学校の知識で死を免れた
以下の話はアメリカ、フロリダ州に住んでいる10歳のJuliana Ossaの忘れにくい記憶です。2017年5月にワニに襲われたが、学校知識のおかげで意外と死を免れました。
2017年7月に、ある土曜の午後2時30分ごろ、Moss公園のMaryjane湖でした。救助者によると、その時Ossaが水中に歩く渡っていて、川岸まで9メートル離れました。突然ある2.6メートルのワニがその子の足を噛みました。自然な反応で噛まられない足でその子がワニを殴りましたが、どうにもなりませんでした。窮すれば通ずで、ワニの弱点が鼻だという学校で教わった知識と急に思い出しました。
「その時、先生から教えてもらったものを思い付いて、ワニの鼻に2本指を突きました。ワニが口で呼吸させられたので、私の足を離しました」と女の子が語りました。
近くに立っていたある証人がOssaを川岸まで引いておいて、膝とふくらはぎの包帯を待ちしました。そのあと女の子が入院されました

Questions about my practice
1. School started on a bitter / frozen cold day in February.
2. Because of economic crisis, industrial output remained stagnant/ inactive
Why the fomer one is better? Is there any difference between bitter cold and frozen cold? I think inactive is better because "stagnant" already have the meaning of "remain". I think it's unnecessary to use "stagnant" with "remain".

Una trama creíble y increíble
¿Cuál tiene mejores tramas, Netflix o las noticias? Después de seguir la trama de lo que está pasando en Rusia con Alexei Navalny, la respuesta a esta pregunta te resultará más fácil. Para darte un poco contexto, Navalny es un audaz critica de Putin y ha atrevido a publicar videos sobre la corrupción de Putin en lo personal y también el gobierno ruso. Déjame decir que a Putin no le cae bien a Navaly. Resultó que Rusia trató de envenenar a Navalny, él sobrevivó (muchas veces), Navalny publicó videos sobre mil millones de dólares en corrupción, y desencadenó manifestaciones inéditas en décadas en Rusia. Como las mejores series, esta trama tiene tensión, acción, giras inesperadas, personajes complejas, y contextos más profundos que pensarías. Pero a diferencia de las series, no es dado por hecho que esta trama tendrá un fin predeciblemente bueno y después de la muerte no dicen 'cut'.

Les doits humain en Turquie
Je suis Turc et j’ai quitté mon pays à cause de la situation grave politique. Il n’y pas de doits fondamentaux humains, il n’y pas de liberté de parler. Malheureusement, il y’a beaucoup de journalistes emprisonnés, parce que il font leur travail. Il y’a beaucoup des élèves en prison, parce que ils sont partager leur propre opinion sur social media. Pire, il y’a à peu près 1000 bébés dans les prisons de la Turquie.
J’ai voté deux fois pour le gouvernement, j’ai fait campagne pour eux. Parce que, quand ils sont commencé leur vie politique, il disaient que leur but est devenir une pays démocratique. Mais, malheureusement je vois que, aujourd’hui la Turquie devient un pays dictatorial chaque jours.

Les livres et la déception
Je viens de lire un livre vraiment superbe, alors le moment où je l'ai fini, j'ai décidé d'acheter un autre livre du même écrivain. Selon les textes de présentation sur la jaquette, cet deuxième livre était son meilleur, mais je le trouve insipide et pas original – bien pire que le premier. Je suis tellement déçue !

Please don't be offended by my curiosity about the word in q
I have encountered an enigmatic expression in a Watch What Happens episode in Top Chef, where intelligent Gail Simons says,
I’m the real slut, is what she’s trying to say (laughing).
I couldn't figure out the meaning of "slut" in this sentence. I'll give you just a little bit of background. During that episode, Gail is not the focus, but Padma Lakshmi is. The host is saying, like, that Padma wears a wide variety of clothes every time she appears in the show. Hearing that, Padma starts saying, chuckling, "Actually, Gail...". Then Gail interrupts her with that sentence.
The meaning I have known seems to be totally inappropriate. Then I found a dictionary definition that might fit into the situation.
> Informal. a person with a seemingly insatiable but often undiscerning desire to do or have something specified: guilty of being a shoe slut | a book slut, reading five books at once.
Then, the original sentence probably seems to mean that she has a seemingly insatiable desire to have lots of clothes. But, I am not sure because I only see, in the dictionary entry, the word with attributive adjectives that might explain the meaning of "slut". "real" in that sentence does not seem to be what specifies the meaning of the word.
What do you think about this? (I ask you who may correct my writing ^^;)

Fútbol americano
Nunca me han interesado mucho los deportes, aunque me habría gustado entender fútbol americano porque ver los partidos fue un pasatiempo popular cuando estaba en la universidad. A mis compañeros de trabajo les gusta hablar de fútbol americano (de hecho, me invitaron a participar en un juego de apuestas para el Super Bowl). Lo que siempre me pasa es que no puedo seguir las reglas complicadas y me distraigo durante las pausas frecuentes. Mientras los equipos hablan, miro las bailarinas, la banda o los anuncios en las pantallas y antes de que me doy cuenta, el partido ya ha resumido y un equipo ha ganado un punto.
