A Blood Donation
With the COVID, hospitals are need of blood reserves. So, saturday afternoon i went to hospital to do a blood donation. After to talk with a doctor, I went back home without doing nothing. The point is that I was taking antibiotic pills until some days ago. He told me that is necessary let pass some days, so in two weeks I will be able to go back to hospital to do my donation.
In Spain it is an altruist gesture, you not get money for your blood, but I think there are countries where you have a consideration in money for your donation.

Jour 25 : Texte abrégé
Ça faisait une semaine que j'ai essayé de lire le roman « Au Bonheur des Dames » d'Émilie Cola qui est sans doute un grand écrivain français. Ses œuvres sont donc des classiques. Après avoir l'essayé pour 3 chapitres, j'ai renoncé de lire. Ce n'est pas à cause de vocabulaires durs mais c'est parue que les dialogues sont longues, ce qui empêchent l'avancement de l'histoire.
J'ai eu capabilité de l'abandonner mais en tout ça, si ça fait plus de bien, pourquoi pas ? Mais aujourd'hui, j'ai trouvé la version abrégé par hasard. D’habitude, je n'aime pas trop de texto abrégé parce qu'il est simplité et donc de goût de l'histoire perderait. Cependant, je l'ai acheté ce livre parce que ça a l'air plus interessant et si je pouvais le lire et le finir, je pourrais me dire que je n’abonne pas.

Science Magazine
A science magazine called "Newton" is very famous in both Korea and Japan.
I had subscribed a science manazine when I was a high school student.
There was no enough space to store in my room, so I cancelled the subscription when I was in college.
With my son's help, I find out that the magazine is now published in e-book.
I buy it right after that, and now I am reading it.
It is still interested for me.

Gibst du oder bekommst du lieber Geschenke?
Ich habe dieses Thema in der Sektion "Challenges" gesehen, und ich habe daran ein bisschen gedacht. Eigentlich, es gibt nicht so viele Leute mit der ich Geschenke teilen kann, weil wir feiern nicht Weichnachten hier in Pakistan.
Natürlich gibt es außer Weihnachten auch viele Feiertage, aber nicht viele an denen wir einander Geschenke geben. Doch liebe ich es, in meinem Alltag meine Sachen anderen Leuten zu schenken. Ich freue mit immer, wann ich eine Gelegenheit habe, um Dinge herauszugeben.
Aber tatsächlich gefällt mir auch Geschenke zu bekommen. Ich liebe immer wenn jemand mir etwas schenkt, weil es ihre Sorgfalt an mir, und von meinen Eltern wirkt das nie ernsthaft wie mit den Freunden. ;w;
Möglicherweise weil ich nicht so viele Freunde habe, und niemals Lust für einen Geschenk laut ausgesprochen habe, denken alle das ich keine brauchen, hehe.

The kanji of the year is announced today. A famous temple called Kiyomizudera in Kyoto announce it in December every year. The kanji chosen was "金" which means "gold". The kanji was chosen because the Tokyo Olympics games were held this year, so I think it is banal. I had predicted another Kanji, "翔".

Do that, I become better
Practice makes perfect.
In this quote “practice” means repeat, repeat and repeat.
I believe this statement and keep practice again and again.
But I still not perfect!
Not even close to good!
Yesterday, I think I find out why, even I put so much time to practice yet I still no way near good.
I didn’t take any note at all.
Same as reading.
I read so many books but I never take note.
So, I just keep forget.
Will I become perfect later?

Random Thought
Life is really ironic. When we were young, we didn't have much money, but that time was when we were starving of money. When we get old, we probably have a lot of money because of the whole life of savings, but at that age, we already don't need that much money. When we were young, we were full of energy, and we could do many great things, but at that time we could only have lower official positions, and we could hardly be leaders. With aging, we most likely become leaders in old age, but we have already lost the best time to be leaders because we are no longer as energetic as we were before. When we were young, we had plenty of time, but we didn't seem to make good use of it. Most of the time we just hung out and did nothing. When we realize that time is really precious and we should not waste it even just a bit, there is no longer much time for us because we are old already. So the ideal situation should be: young people should be leaders, should get a high salary, and should cherish time.

Aujourd’hui, ton visage est apparu dans mon esprit plus que d’habitude. Quand j’ai fermé mes yeux, j’ai pensé de ton sourire pendant tu regardais par ta fenêtre. Le bouquet de roses que je t’ai acheté t’a fait te sentir un peu moins seul dans ton apartment à Paris. Tu as vraiment adoré recevoir des fleurs le matin. Mais c’est parce que tu le mérites, Héphaïstos.
Tu mérites un million de roses d’un million de personnes alors que tu montres le monde tes filmes et idées incroyables. Un jour, tu seras un réalisateur renommé. Tu est brillant avec un sens merveilleux du détail. Ce n’est qu’une question de temps avant tout le monde le réalise aussi. J’espère que tu ne m’oublieras pas.
Quand nous étions jeunes, tu as promis que tu ferais un film sur moi. Une tragédie ou une comédie, je me demande laquelle ce sera? Tu te souviens quand j’ai dit que nous étions amant-maudits? Comme Roméo et Juliette. C’était aussi de l’art, tu sais? Mais tu vas détester Shakespeare si je continue à dire ça. Et je déteste m’excuser pour mes vrais sentiments.
Alors, nous pouvons juste arrêter de parler de nos sentiments (ou en fait tu seul peut arrêter pour moi). Tu n’as remarqué que après cette année, célébrons quatre ans de disputer dans le vide que nous ne sommes pas des amoureux voués à l'échec?

le déménagement
Je déménage enfin dans mon nouvel appartement. Ça fait presque un an et demi que j'ai commencé les travaux dans cet appartement. On a connu des retards dus aux interruptions de la chaîne d'approvisionnement. Demain je m'absenterai du bureau pour faire tous les cartons. Je voudrais être prête quand les déménageurs arrivent mardi martin. Heureusement, je n'ai pas beaucoup d'affaires. Alors, je ne crois pas que le déménagement sera trop difficile.

Travel to Hawaii
When I had diner with my parents last night, I asked my parent whether they want to travel abroad. For a few years I have saved flight mileage and it is enough for short flight for three people.
I recommended Jeju Island in Korea, because my father is into Korean TV dramas. I found some nice cruise tours to Jeju in google.
But my mother said that she doesn’t like stay in ships long time and tropical island sounds nice.
“Tropical island… like Hawaii?”
“That’s nice!”
My flight mileage is not enough for round trip to Hawaii. But they haven’t gone to abroad for about 30 years. I want to take them wherever they want to go….
The problem is money.
I proposed them, “if we save 600 yen per a day per a person for a year, we can save enough money for our trip! And after a year, things get back to normal.”
My father had a sour face because it’s difficult to say that his allowance is enough.
But just ignored him and I put a piggy bank in a dinning table.
I wish to go Hawai next year!

Une cuillère à dessert
Nos proprietères sont venus nous apprendre ce qu'on devrait faire quand on part de l'appartement pour longtemps. Après leur explication, on a mangé les éclaires ensemble que mon mari avait achetés.
Pendant que je préparais du thé, je leur ai posé une question que j'avais sur ma tête : est-ce que les Français utilisent des couverts pour manger des éclairs ? Et ils m'ont répondu que normalement ils utilisent des petits cuillères pour en déguster.
Au Japon, il est normal que les gens mangent des éclairs par les mains. C'est même considéré comme bizarre si on utilise des fourchettes ou des cuillères.
Mais comment les Français utilisent-ils des cuillères pour manger des éclairs ? Car ils ont dit que ce n'était pas la peine de sortir des cuillères pour eux, je ne suis pas arrivée à les voir manger ces patisseries qui me semblait très difficile de traiter avec les cuillères. Mais comme ils n'étaient pas là pour me montrer ça, j'ai refoulé le sentiment de vouloir savoir davantage. Après j'ai essayé de manger un éclair moi-même avec un cuillère, en pure perte, cela n'a pas bien marché. La crème est sortie dans l'assiette, ce qui m'a empêché de manger de la partie de pâte et la crème ensemble.
Des différences culturelles peuvent se sentir dans la vie quotidienne, mais cela, je ne m'en revenais pas.

Ma vie, jour 5
Bonsoir,
Depuis plusieurs années, j'ai une petit-amie. Elle habite à Utrecht, à 200 m de moi! Avant que j'habite à l'extérieur de la ville, mais maintenant j'habite sur le parc de science à Utrecht. À ce moment, ma petit-amie n'avait pas encore une propre chambre. Elle venait dormir dans ma appartement pendant une semaine. Après, elle dorsait chez ses parents.
Heureusement, nous avons des propres chambres maintenant. Nous pouvons dormir où nous voulons. La plupart des semaines, nous dormons ensemble environ cinq jours par semaine. Vraiment, je m'en fous où nous dormons parce que je me réveillerais partout. Pourtant, je n'aime pas de n'avoir aucun d'ordinateur, et il est dans ma chambre, bien sûr.

My favourite animal
To be honest, just choosing one animal is unfair. For me at least, is a close "fight" between cats and dogs. What i love about the dogs is their loyalty, and that they are very close to the humans, if we compare it to the cats. But, don't get me wrong, some cats can be very close too, sometimes too close, even some can lay down in your head while you are sleeping (i'm talking from my own experience). What i love about the cats is their purring, it just help to relax, specially in hard days

Rascando y siseando, respirando nubes sangunarias. El lobo no parece saltar, no en el princípio. Se queda en pie, inhalando el miedo, gozando el horror.
Despierto con moretones y el doctor dice que he tenido pesadillas.

Eten
Er is een engelse uitdrukking dat de weg naar iemands hart via de maag gaat. Misschien wijk ik af van de normale mens, maar dit klopt niet voor mij. Ik ben door mijn leven gelukkig geweest om verschillende soort eten te ervaren. Ik heb in Michelin-ster restaurants gegeten, door veel en verschillende landen gereisd en echt een scala aan keuken geproefd. Ik kan heerlijk eten echt waarderen, en ik heb ook een verfijnd gevoel voor smaak ontwikkeld. Maar dat betekend niet dat ik lekker eten belangrijk vind. Als er geen sprake van moeite is, dan wil ik natuurlijk altijd voor betere maaltijd kiezen. Maar ik zou eten nooit boven andere dingen (vooral tijd) prioriteren.
Dit is altijd verassend voor iedereen geweest. Ook voor mijn eigen moeder. Ze maakt altijd zorgen voor wat ze moet voor mijn aankomst voorbereiden. Ik stel het gebaar op hoog prijs natuurlijk, maar ik denk dat zij haar tijd beter kan besteden om interessante activiteiten voor ons te kiezen.

Hasta mas recetas para desayuno...
Una receta muy flexible para desayuno es el "hash" (no sé si hay traducción en español), un plato que es básicamente una mezcla de papas fritas con huevos, pero puedes añadir cualquier otra cosa como carne (tocino o salchicha por ejemplo), queso, verduras (cebolla y ajo son favoritos, pero también los pimientos dulces sirven bien), y salsa (de tomates o tomatillos). Es un plato simple pero toma un poco de tiempo por las papas. Debes cocinar ellas primera: pícalas en pequeños cubos (alrededor de una media-pulgada) y ponlas en un sartén de hierro fundido con algún aceite (de canola es mejor porque no fuma cuando está caliente). Cocínalo hasta las papas están cocinadas y blandas, y empieza a añadir los otros ingredientes. Para los huevos, puedes cocinarlos por separado o romperlos en el sartén y mezclarlos con las papas. Cuando todos los ingredientes están cocinados puedes agregar el queso y servir el plato con salsa encima o por el lado.
Tostada francesa es otra favorita. Cuando era niño mi mamá hacía este plato frecuentemente y siempre me alegraba! Y no es difícil. Lo más básico solo necesita un puñado de ingredientes: pan (un pan esponjoso, cortado en rebanadas gordas es mejor), leche, huevos, azúcar y unas especias como canela, de acuerdo con tu gusto. Combina la leche, huevos, azúcar y especias en un recipiente y entonces empapa el pan (ambos lados) en la mezcla. Mientras tanto, calienta un sartén en la estufa. Trabajando con dos o tres pedazos por vez, pon las rebanadas de pan en el sartén y cocínalas hasta el huevo está plenamente cocinado y la superficie de ambos lados es marrón. Puedes servir con muchas cosas: a mi me gustaba el jarabe de arce cuando era niño, pero cualquier jarabe o mermelada está bien, y también es muy rico con pedazos de fruta fresca y crema batida. Es un desayuno muy sustancioso y riquísimo!

es ist schön zu hören, dass deine Beziehung mit Fritz sehr gut geht! Er scheint ein cooler Typ zu sein und ich wünsche ihr zwei alles Bestes. Ich kann aber sehr gut verstehen, dass es dir Angst macht, wenn er unachtsam fährt. Meiner Meinung nach solltest du klarer mit ihm sein und bestehen darauf, dass du nicht in seinem Auto kommst, wenn er nicht deine Sorgen erwägt. Wenn er auf dich kümmert, kann er zumindest diese Kleinigkeit für dich tun, oder?
Sag mir Bescheid, wie die Situation geht. Ich möchte dich sehr bald wiedersehen! Wir alle vermissen dich sehr.

What Leaders can learn from the Montessori Method
Last month, I presented a talk titled "What Leaders can learn from the Montessori Method" during the Italian Agile Day. I had in mind to present something around this topic for quite some time, and I'm pleased with the initial concept. The talk was very well received, and I ended up referring to its ideas quite often, so I decided to do a short write-up that I can point people to until I have an English version live.
First, for people who have never heard of the Montessori Method, it's a 100+-year-old pedagogical approach designed for young children. While the popularity of the method is primarily due to its use in nurseries, the method has been successfully applied all the way to secondary school.
The premise of the talk is that I'm genuinely fascinated that such an old method meant to foster children's development is so actual in terms of modern personal development and motivation theories. I did find the principles of the method very useful when thinking about fostering autonomy in the teams I'm helping and the people I work with. At the same time, I want to make sure the metaphor is not perceived as an attempt to treat adults like children. In the Montessori method, children are treated like small adults from the moment they are born, and it is certainly not my nature to treat grown-ups like children.
The first time I heard this simple phrase, "Help me to help myself" which Maria Montessori describes as the child's cry for independence, it clicked for me. I find the clashing of "Help me" with "to help myself" quite pertinent for the ongoing tension between the leader's need to solve a problem (help me) and the equally vital need to enable the person that is directly affected by the problem to help himself. I certainly feel that tension every time I'm in a rush to leave the house while my daughter is learning to put their shoes on. I know I would be already out of the door if I did that myself, but I'd rob her of a chance to practice. Essentially this is what we do every time we step in to solve something for our team; we take from them an opportunity to grow. As a parent knows you can't always step back and let your child learn but at the same time, you need to give them plenty of opportunities to grow.
And now that we have a tool to remind ourselves to help your team help himself, what else the Montessori has written that can help us do it properly. I found the following principles quite helpful to set up an effective strategy and help you navigate day-to-day decisions. For now, I'm going only briefly to mention the principles, but I'll expand each of them with practical examples in future posts.
Prepared Environment is probably the most critical lever for fostering independence. When talking about a child, it is to prepare a nursery or your house to enable them to be independent. At work, the environment is more abstract: it's made of incentives, social and organizational structure, culture, and process.
Independence is obviously at the center of the Montessori method. When talking about a child, it is to avoid helping him with a task he feels he can succeed. Equally at work is never step in when your teammate feels like he can do the job, and make sure to find space later to help him understand where you would have done it differently.
Freedom within limits it's probably the principle that I'm more cautious to overuse because it triggers controlling behaviors. When talking about a child, it's about making sure that they don't hurt themselves or someone else. Instead, at work is about being transparent about the limits of your choices and defining the boundaries inside which you can use your agency.
Respect it's about having mutual respect. Equally, for a child and in a work context, this should be the easiest to implement, but in reality, respect is not only about being kind but also about respecting the fact that everyone learns and grow at his own peace and in his own way.
Intrinsic motivation is likely the aspect that has brought me close to the Montessori approach. Unlike other methods, there are no gold stars in the Montessori classroom to praise the child's progress. The sense of accomplishment from completing an activity it's what powers the child's motivation. Likewise, a strong focus on extrinsic motivation reduces the intrinsic ones in a work environment.
As you can see, none of the principles above is particularly new. Still, the simplicity in which they counterbalance each other and consider that the world is imperfect makes them unique. We can't always follow the correct principle is quite crucial to find the right compromise that allows us to move forward and grow your team.
