All Creatures great and small

Heute Abend habe ich die neue zwei Folgen der dritten Staffel "All Creatures Great and Small" gesehen.

Diese Staffel hat vom gleichnamigen Roman bearbeitet.Der Verfasser ist ein englischer Tierarzt,der in Mitte des letzten Jahrhunderts lebte.

Die Haupte Handlung der Staffel ist einfach.James Herriot,der Hauptfigur ist,ist ein Tierarzt. Wenn er von der Schule absolvierte,fand er eine Stelle in einem kleinen Dorf, das sehr schöne Landschaft hat.

Herriot begegnete seiner Frau hier und Am Werk passierte viele interessante Dinge auf ihm.

Ich liebe diese Reihe.Von ersten Staffel zur zweiten Staffel habe ich jede Folge mindestens zwei mal gesehen.

Aber in der dritten Staffel, die Zeit ist in der Nähe zu Zweiter Weltkrieg.

Ich habe einen Eindruck,dass Herriot sagte zu seinen Eltern,dass Krieg nie mehr ausbrechen werde.Leider ist die Geschichte umgekehrt.

Ich mache mir große Sorgen um Herriot und seine Frau. Sie verheirateten sich für kürz Zeit.Ich hoffe,dass Schicksal ihnen ein gutes Ende geben kann.

Antwort auf den Brief

Sehr geehrte Frau Stieleke,
mit großem Interesse habe ich Ihren Brief gelesen. Etwas Ähnliches habe ich auch schon erlebt: zum Glück hatte mein Freund keinen Unfall wie Ihre Freundin, aber er ist in die USA gegangen und seitdem verloren wir unseren Kontakt. Das war vor ein paar Jahren. In den ersten Monaten seines Umzugs pflegen wir unseren Kontakt. Aber eines Tages haben wir gestoppt, miteinander zu sprechen. Meiner Meinung nach hatten wir zu viel zu tun. Es war so für ein paar Monaten, bevor ich einen Text bekommen habe. Es war er. Er hat nur gefragt, warum wir nicht mehr sprechen und ich hatte keine Antwort für ihn. Seitdem sprechen wir häufig. Wir haben gelernt, dass ein Text nur Sekunden fordert.

Buongiorno, come stai? E la famiglia?

Una differenza maggiore tra la cultura francese e la tedesca riguarda l'attitudine verso le banalità che si cambia la gente per tessere legami. In inglese, questo si chiama lo "small talk". In Francia, Italia o Spagna, è una convenzione sociale che parlare del meteo o della propria famiglia tra due persone, anche due persone che non si conoscono molto, constitue un modo accettabile per iniziare una conversazione. In Germania, invece, è una cosa strana che può indisporre l'interlocutore, e laggiù si ritiene che parlare del meteo o di questo genere di argomenti superficiali sia una perdita di tempo.

Al inizio, pensavo che fosse una frattura tra l'Europa del nord e quella del sud, ma diverse conversazioni con amici dall'Ucraina e dalla Russia mi hanno imparato che cambiarsi banalità per fare conescenza era piuttosto comune, soprattutto con le persone anziane. Inoltre, nei paesi anglosassoni, mi sembra che l'arte dello "small talk" sia ancora più sviluppato. Più essattamente, ci sono automatismi, frasi che non aspettano nessuna risposta. Negli Stati Uniti, quando la gente dice "how is it going?", è solo una salutazione, non le importa la risposta. Se qualcuno me dicesse "come stai?" senza preoccuparsi della risposta, mi offenderei, e lo vedrei come ipocrisia: se non vuoi sapere, perché chiedi?

Ma ci sono paesi dove le banalità significano qualcosa! So che nei paesi del Maghreb, si incontra qualcuno che conosce un po', si deve REALMENTE essere pronto a fermarsi e rispostare di modo esaustivo alle domande usuali: come stai? Come sta la famiglia? Come va al lavoro?, ecc

Mi pare che questa cultura delle banalità si perda nelle nuove generazioni. Io posso ne dire ad una persona anziana, ma in pubblico, non mi verrebbe mai in mente parlare del meteo per fare conoscenza con qualcuno della mia età. Forse sia un male, perché non posso negare le virtù sociali di queste conversazioni insignificanti, ma utili per tessere legami.

A Book About Art History

Currently I'm reading an art book called "What Are You Looking At?" of Will Gompertz. It is a gift of my wife for the "Book's day". I would have liked find it in catalan, but anfortunately doesn't exist this traduction, so finally she bought it in castilian. I did't want the english version, because she don't understand English, and I have yet some problem to understand some complicated sentences. The book descrive the styles of art through of history, focusing in the modern art. It is an interesting book that speaks about art and its evolution from XX century, until present. Now, I am reading the 140 page, but as the book has about 470 pages, so I have a lot of amusing reading before arriving to the end of the book.

De temps en temps il y a quelque chose qui peut decider mon comportement pour le reste de la journée. Et je déteste cette fait surtout parce que je sais que c'est nous qui devons contrôler nos emotions. C'est quelque chose sur que travaille encore. J'essaye de garder mon calme mais ça sert à rien. 先生のどう技術が他の人と連絡する方法を変わるようになっていくか講演によると、異文化から言葉の翻訳を助けるためのアプリがあるから、誰とでも意見を交流できるようになっているらしい。

一週間に一回しか練習しなくてピアノの弾くのが苦手だけど、「4月は君の嘘」というピアノのアニメを見たことがきかけで、目標が必ず毎日３０分ピアノを弾くようにした。

夢の仕事の機会といえば、広告が言った通りに働く経験であればあるほど、会社に合うらしい。

Probando gula por primera vez

El anteayer en la noche me reuní con una compañera de la escuela para tener una cena que habíamos postergado un par de veces debido a la falta de coincidencia de noches libres en nuestros calendarios. Mi cumpleaños fue hace un mes y ella insistía en llevarme a
un restaurante para celebrar. Otra cosa que complicaba organizar la cena era la falta de restaurantes cercanos, por lo cual nos tocó viajar a la ciudad colindante cuya variedad gastronómica es más amplia. De ahí había de arreglar el transporte ya que ninguno de los dos contamos con modos de transporte personales. Finalmente acordamos en ir justo después de un día escolar, sin embargo, no esperábamos que nuestra llegada coincidase con las horas de siesta por lo cual la mayoría de los restaurantes aún no estaban abiertos. Afortunadamente encontramos un bar de tapas donde probé tostada de gula. Le pregunté al camarero acerca de ella porque no tenía ni idea de que se trataba. Me aseguró que aunque era de pescado, no sabía de pescado sino pasta. Sin embargo, al final, sí noté un sabor que no me agradaba mucho. Supongo que por habérmelo dicho, probablemente ya me habían manifestado prejuicios al probarlo.

Matteprøve

Nå for tida, øver jeg på matte for ei matteprøve 18. oktober, som heter TMUA. Den består av 2 eksamener, og hver er 75 minutt lang med 20 problem. Mens du fullfører mer problem, problema blir vanskeligere. Masse engelske universiteter ser på resultat av TMUA når de analyserer en universitetsapplikasjon. For eksempel, hvis du får gode resultater på TMUA, det kan få en kandidat mer tiltrekkende til universiteter, som øker sjansen av aksepten.

Derimot er den ei veldig vanskelig prøve. Jeg trenger mer øvelse for å forbedre meg, så nå gjør jeg masse eksamener av tidligere år.

「ぎんのさじ」

今日やっと「ぎんのさじ」という漫画を読み終わりました！
全部読むために、数週間かかりました。遅いですね。
札幌の高校から農業学校に入学する高校生の話です。
この問題はかなり珍しいですけど、とても面白くて、楽しかったです。
動物と人間の関係についてで、深くて、他の漫画と比べて、びっくりしました。
それは典型的な少年漫画じゃなくて、ほかの巻を読みたいです。
残穢ながら、僕の日本語のレベルはまだ低いなので、多分簡単のほうが漫画を選びます。
簡単な漫画のおすすめがあったら、ぜひ教えてくれてありがとうございます。

今日は何だか幼稚園がひっそりとしている。
彼の言うことには何だかひやひやさせられる。

何となくずっと前からほしかった深鍋を眠らせてしまった。

Are you having fun learning your target language?

Learning English, especially the pronunciation

I've been learning English since I was 13, at a junior high school. My mother works as an interpreter, so while I didn't follow her career, I've always been familiar with English with some periods of breaks on and off. I needed to talk in English from time to time at my work, and I had never imagined of learning another language besides English.

So living in France was something I had never expected, nor is learning French. English and French are similar to some extent (compared to Japanese, of course) in terms of grammar, but their pronunciations differ a lot. After having spent a certain time studying French, I noticed one thing: now I feel more tired in speaking English.

If you see facial expressions of Japanese people, it wouldn't take long to understand that we don't move our mouth as much as the Americans, just because that's how our language is spoken. The intonation is much weaker, and the type of pronunciation has a less variety. In addition, we are not inclined to show our emotion in the way Amercains usually do, consisting one of the biggest cultural differences between two countries.

However, though I have to admet that my French pronunciation is nowhere near perfect, the French language, the French language requires not much of the motion of mouth in comparison with English. With the intonation much flatter (though throughout the sentence there is a intonation), I was more at ease while learning to converse in French, which made me realize that English demands some muscles that I don't use for Japanese and French.

That being said, in Japan (and I guess in most of the Asian countries), we adopt American English education, so it goes without saying that the pronunciation takes the American style. On the contrary, my sister learned English at New Zealand, and she affirms that New Zealand English or British English is less complicated in pronouncing. Getting used to speaking with other English accents might help me get through this muscle problem, but it would not be easy to relearn the accent from the scratch.

Mapmaking

This post is a continuation from yesterday.

Tadataka Ino was originally a merchant, but after he turned 50, he started studying astronomy in earnest.
On his observing the North Star, he noticed that the height of the Pole Star was different when he observed it at his house and when he observed it at his teacher's house.
Based on that, he calculated the diameter of the Earth.
His teacher pointed out that the error should be large because the distance is short. So he wanted to go around Hokkaido.

La Fondazione del Patrimonio

È un segreto di pulcinella: i paesi occidentali hanno budget ridotti ed ovunque si parla di austerità. Il primo settore per cui il rubinetto di denere pubblico si chiude è generalmente la cultura. Perciò, centinai di monumenti francesi si trovano oggi in un stato preoccupante.

Naturalmente, i simboli nazionali come la cattedrale Notre-Dame o il castello di Chambord non mancano di soldi: ricevono molto denaro pubblico e sono tanto visitati che possono sviluppare avvenimenti culturali per continuare di promuoversi. Ma c'è un sacco di monumenti (chiese, lavatoi, mulini, ecc) ubicati in piccoli villagi che non sono così fortunati. La generosità che numerose persone hanno mostrata per Notre-Dame non deve fare dimenticare tutti questi monumenti che si deteriorano giorno dopo giorno, perché loro manca il denero necessario per essere restaurati.

Fortunamente, un'associazione chiamata la Fondazione del Patrimonio opera per salvarli. Impiega 850 volontari e cerca di raccoltare denero da diversi modi, come il mecenatismo (pubblico e privato) per iniziare lavori di restauro. Inoltre, cerca anche di attirare l'attenzione su questi monumenti poco conosciuti, sopratutto via la persona di Stéphane Bern, che è un presentatore della TV noto per le sue emissioni di divulgazione historica. La situazione del patrimonio rurale è così in Italia? Ci sono molte associazioni che cercano di salvarlo?
