IELTS Writing Task 2 Essay
In nearly all science courses at university, there are significantly more male than female students.
What is the reason for this?
What could be done to balance out the numbers?
There is a notable gender imbalance in science university programs, with a distinct predominance of male students. This disparity is contributed by the prevalent societal stereotypes that assume scientific fields are more suited for men. However, this issue can be tackled by dismantling such stereotypes and empowering young females to pursue science.
Common societal biases that perceive women as less competent in scientific fields compared to men significantly contribute to the underrepresentation of female science university students. These stereotypes are frequently reinforced in the media, portraying men as successful figures in scientific fields while assigning women to supporting roles. Certain teachers and parents also unknowingly perpetuate such bias by giving more encouragement to boys compared to girls in science-related activities. Moreover, studies, including one conducted by Moss-Racusin et al, have shown faculty members tend to prefer male applicants over equally competent female candidates and offer them higher starting salaries. These factors collectively cause female students to feel inadequately capable and excluded from science fields, deterring them from enrolling in such courses in university.
To address the gender disparity in higher education science courses, we must break down such gender bias and foster young females’ interest in science. In particular, parents should involve their daughters in science-related interactive programs, extracurricular activities, and mentorship initiatives from an early age to demonstrate support and nurture their curiosity and interest. Furthermore, science teachers should create an open and non-judgmental environment where female students feel valued and confident. To achieve this, they should celebrate and acknowledge female students’ contributions, provide opportunities for leadership roles in group projects, offer mentorship programs, and address instances of bias or discrimination in the classroom. Moreover, the media should feature a greater representation of accomplished female scientists in movies and TV shows, while inviting real-life figures as guest speakers in talk shows. This can show that success in scientific fields is attainable for women as well, breaking societal stereotypes that discourage girls from pursuing science.
In conclusion, the underrepresentation of female students in university science disciples can be attributed to societal prejudices that favor men's capabilities in these areas. Nevertheless, we can mitigate this issue by dispelling these prejudices and encouraging girls to explore science.

The educational discrepancy can lead to brain drain and decreased global competitiveness in poorer countries. In particular, their students may seek better academic opportunities abroad, eventually settling there if offered appealing job prospects upon graduation. This causes a loss of talent, skills, and potential contributions to their economy and development. Furthermore, graduates from poorer countries with weaker education systems may not possess the same level of skills and knowledge as those from more developed nations. Consequently, keeping pace with advancements in science, technology, and industry becomes challenging, impeding their ability to stay competitive in the global market. This results in difficulties in increasing exports, attracting foreign investments, and expanding their markets.
To bridge this discrepancy, impoverished nations can ask for aid from more affluent ones and utilize online learning platforms. In particular, wealthier countries can provide monetary support to poorer nations through grants, loans, and other financial instruments. This funding can be utilized to improve the availability and quality of school infrastructure, learning materials, technology, and teachers. They can also share their best practices and successful strategies, initiate teacher exchange training programs, and deploy experienced educators to poorer nations to conduct workshops and tackle local educational challenges. Besides, less affluent governments can prioritize developing e-learning platforms and digital resources, making education more accessible and affordable. This enables students in remote areas to access quality education without needing to travel long distances or relocate to more developed regions.
In conclusion, the educational disparity between impoverished countries and more affluent ones can make it challenging for these less privileged nations to retain human capital and uphold global competitiveness. Nevertheless, they can seek financial and knowledge assistance from wealthier countries while investing in distance learning initiatives to bridge such disparity.

El cambio climático
Cuando pienso en el apocalipsis, pienso en el fuego - eso es lo que muestran todas las obras de arte relacionadas con el tema ¿no? Un mundo consumido por el fuego, la civilización convertida en cenizas, el cielo lleno de humo, la tierra de huesos. En las fuentes antiguas, el fin del mundo es el producto de algo divino - sea la ira de Dios o una batalla divina o algo más. En la ficción moderna, la causa suele ser una guerra nuclear o una enfermedad mortal, un desastre natural de escala mundo o tal. Pero, al fin y al cabo, parece que lo que va a llevarnos al infierno será - sorpresa para todos - el cambio climático, un problema de hace el nacimiento de la humanidad pero que solo ha empezado a preocuparnos en las últimas décadas. Es importante que todos contribuyamos a detener este problema antes de que empeore la situación aún más. No obstante, no creo que sea la responsabilidad de cada individuo cambiar su vida de manera drástica para combatir el cambio climático. En lugar de eso, los gobiernos y empresas grandes - los que emiten la mayoría de las emisiones - deberían hacer más para mejorar la situación.
En los Estados Unidos, la mayoría de la gente no recibe su electricidad del gobierno pero la compra de empresas privadas. Une courte texte que j'ai essayé de traduire en français :
Davide et Emma se sont regardés à travers la table. Le jeune couple était content : la nourriture était délicieuse, la lumière des bougies était douce et la musique était parfaite.
Davide a contemplé le beau sourire d’Emma. Toute la douleur de sa dernière rupture avait disparu. Tous ses doutes et peurs à propos de l’amour étaient terminés. Sa main l’a attrapée et touché la sienne.
«Je voudrais te demander quelque chose» a dit Davide en examinant ses yeux. Peut-elle deviner ce qui allait arriver ?
Son sourire le faisait se sentir courageux. Elle a pris sa main et lui a dit «Ne t’inquiète pas. Quoi qu’il en soit, je dirai probablement oui !»
Il ressentait de l’enthousiasme. Il se préparait à poser la question la plus importante de sa vie.

我没有固定的语伴，因为我觉得我自己不够可靠，别人大部分的时候也不能太可靠，更何况个人都有个人的爱好、活动、很多时间都不会或者不愿意掏出一些时间跟一个不熟的人打交道。我以前有一个学校定的语伴，可是只是为了他们学英语，而不是为了我学中文。那时候，我们就会在校园某个地方见面，然后聊关于学习的事情，跟学生的日常生活的东西。有时候也会聊到家乡、国家的风俗相似的事。现在比有一位固定的上线语伴更好一些的是用一些随时能和陌生人聊天的软件。我觉得这样的话，你没有很大的压力去继续跟同一个人见面，然后也会聊到不同的事情，但是大部分的时候也好像会聊到学语言过程中遇到的故障和困难。比如说，我前天就坐在一个房间里，然后最终聊的是汉语水平考试的难度。此外，做一位好的语伴是挺难的，因为你老要能找到共同的话题，而且不仅仅是这个，你还有找新鲜的内容、新的信息、不然彼此将会失去兴趣，最后就不联系了。每一种人跟人的关系都带来一些责任，所以我认为，特别是在网上这种很容易逃避责任的地方，还是你（我）自己每周或每天找一些时间去用不同的方法练习你的目标语言。

La glottophobie est un nouveau mot, inventé par Philippe Blanchet, qui est définie comme une discrimination linguistique. Les témoignages de plusieurs Français confirment l’existence de ce concept, y compris une moitié des Français qui constatent qu’ils ont au moins un peu d’un accent régional. Les conséquences d’un accent peuvent affecter la vie entière d’une personne à cause des biais qui touchent des examens et même des entretiens d’embauche, en citant les employeurs, « l’accent » pour le refus d’un poste de travail. La glottophobie est même plus pertinente dans les domaines de la parole et de la communication à cause du fait que les employeurs jugent les accents régionaux comme une mauvaise manière de parler le français. La réaction générale du public est de changer consciemment son accent, or, cela peut apporter beaucoup de honte et se faire sentir mal à l’aise. Ce phénomène de la glottophobie vient de la standardisation linguistique effectuée par Paris et, aujourd’hui, par des radios et des télévisions qui mettent en avant un français « sans accent ». Également, il existe de nombreux solutions. Principalement, l’idée de « jongler » entre son accent naturel et son accent travaillé, propose Maria Candea. Cependant, il y en a qui cherchent une solution plus solide, notablement, le député (LREM) de l’Hérault Christophe Euzet qui propose une loi pour éliminer la discrimination des accents au travail.

Tous les jours, on déballe plusieurs kilos de la nourriture. Il est temps que vouz changiez l’organisation des cantines au but d’économiser des déchets et reduire la surproduction de la nourriture. Par exemple, vous pouvez alimenter les gens sans logement.
Nous exigeons que vous mettiez en place un gérant plus efficace des cantines scolaires. En sauver de l’énergie, de produits, de déballage, et de nourriture, vous contribuiez au empêchement du réchauffement climatique. Dans ce sens, vous devez réduire les émissions des cantines scolaires par acheter des produits locaux et écologiques.

Ein mehrsprachiges Land
In meinem Land spricht fast jeder Vietnamesisch, meine Landessprache und meine Muttersprache. Allerdings können viele Leute wegen globalisiere Zeit Fremdsprachen wie Englisch, Chinesisch, Japanisch, usw sprechen. Mit guten Fremdsprachkenntnissen kann man nicht nur zahlreiche Berufschancen bekommen, sondern auch im Ausland arbeiten. Derzeit lässt Englisch in ganze Schulen unterrichten, weil es sehr nützlich ist, wenn man mit Ausländer kontaktieren möchte.
Je mehr Sprachen, desto verbessert man in der Zukunft. Aus diesem Grund lerne ich fleißig. Schritt für Schritt kann ich außer meine Muttersprache auch Englisch und Deutsch verwenden. Ehrlich gesagt, dass ich in Deutschland arbeiten und lernen möchte. Obwohl Deutsch sehr schwer ist, aber es ist eine Grundvoraussetzung, damit ich dort arbeite. Darüber hinaus gibt es viele Länder, die Deutsch wie zum Beispiel die Schweiz nutzen.
Während in meinem Land sprechen die Leute nur eine Landessprache, ist die Situation in der Schweiz, die Bewohner vier Sprachen zu benutzen. Die Vielfalt der Sprache führt zum multikulturellen Land. Auf der einen Seite entdeckt man äußerte großartige Kulturen, auf der anderen Seite kann man eine lange Tradition der Mehrsprachigkeit entwickeln. Natürlich kann ich die negative Seite davon nicht ausblenden. Ein großer Nachteil ist, dass man voraussichtlich Sprachstörung hat. Oder es kommt zu Missverständnissen, wenn man die Sprache des anderen nicht versteht, obwohl man im selben Land lebt. Meiner Meinung nach ist es jedoch sehr hilfreich, wenn man mehrere Sprachen spricht.
