Practicing languages with real people

Since my town is a very touristy place, I’m looking to improve my speaking fluency so I can meet new people. I found a small group that gathers on a bar every Wednesday, but right now they took a break for holidays and they’ll be returning at the end of January.
I did practice my English with an AI app last year, and I could notice an improvement, but it’s not the same that interacting with a real person, isn’t has interesting nor gratifying to actually meet another human.
I hope I’ll be writing about my experience at the exchange group next month.

"could notice an improvement" is grammatically correct, but it sounds more natural personally to simply say "noticed an improvement" using the past tense. For the last sentence, this pattern should be used: "A is / isn't as B as D" instead of "A is / isn't as B to D".
