The Chinese New Year Holiday
Actually, the Chinese New Year has only three days off, but we did have seven days off.
These seven days include two days on the weekend, three holidays and two working days.
So on the first weekend after the Chinese New Year, we can't have a rest as usual. We have to go to work because we had two more days off during the holiday.

I remember when the Chinese government adopted this scheme in the ’90s or early 2000s. They said it was to encourage people to travel and spend money, which made sense at the time, considering that people had extra money and domestic consumption was very low. But now they’ve extended the scheme to several other holidays, and it just seems ineffective to me, as an outside observer. Do you think that it actually serves a useful purpose?
