Why do you use plural forms?
We use plural because there's more than likely more than one origin for a person's job. In your case, in addition to performing well in school, you chose to go to a specialized school and in this specialized school, you probably chose a certain field which led you to your current employment. Both of these are considered origins of your job, too.

In your case, in addition to performing well in school, you chose to go to a specialized school and in this specialized school, you probably chose a certain field which led you to your current employment. Both of these are considered origins of your job, too.
