Writting about IA
I recently watched a Ted Talk about IA, it is impressive how algorithms operate on such an enormous scale. I had not realized how IA had permeated our daily life activities, maybe because I’m not really into technology, I was not aware of its implications.
For an average stay-home mom, it is almost impossible to understand how IA operates, but I am into social media and I came to understand that the algorithms that facebook and IG create, involves me in such a delicate way that I am part of something bigger than a like.
Through the years I have been using social media to connect with old colleagues and entertain myself, without any shame, I can tell that I spend barely two hours a day checking what is new in the digital space. I read, I post, I give likes and spend time checking what interests me. What I did not know is that I was giving digital power to huge companies to analyze and categorize me in order to give this data. So even though I am not a digital person, I give important information to digital companies on a daily basis.
As an ordinary person, I truly believe that IA is taking over us in ways that we do not fully understand, for instance some people use it to help them navigate daily activities and make their life more easy, however, what people do not realize is how through an innocent search we are feeding massive algorithms that we not longer understand how operates. It is scary if you ask me, the world as we know it may not be the same after IA gets out of hand.
