In Taiwan, working from home isn't very widely applied unless you're in the startup or tech industry. But after COVID-19, some people realized that working from home could be a new norm. My company has been discussing whether we could work from home for a while. However, the boss never affirmed that, mostly because management distrusts that employees would put in the same effort if they work from home. Although working from home could reduce commute time and give employees more freedom, the distrust from management could be disastrous -- leading to endless work journals or constant video chats to check if you're working. I believe working from home is a good idea, and it might be gradually implemented in different industries. But in my own experience during the COVID period, working from home blurred the lines between my private and working areas, both mentally and physically. So, if our company does agree to let us work from home, I guess I'll still go to the office.
