Why are so many people angry on social media? (pt. 1)

Is human nature good or evil? Now I would like to try to give an answer, and that is: in fact, good and evil parts are rooted in human nature. We can neither say that human beings are essentially good, nor essentially evil. The key is what kind of mechanism our society design, and how to stimulate the good part, while suppressing the evil part.

Here I would like to take social media as an example to illustrate how important good mechanism design is in shaping a more benevolent and better environment.

Many people have the feeling that the environment on social media is becoming more and more "toxic". "Toxic" here refers to those trollers and the content which is full of rude, disrespectful and unreasonable. After seeing this content, we want to escape from the discussion because we can't stand such toxicity.

Is human nature good or evil?

Now I would like to try to give an answer, and that is: in fact, both good and evil parts are rooted in human nature.

We can neither say that human beings are essentially good, nor essentially evil.

The key is what kind of mechanisms our society designed, and how to stimulate the good part, while suppressing the evil part.

I think a verb is missing here: The key is [to find out? to change?] what kind of mechanisms our society designed

Here I would like to take social media as an example to illustrate how important good mechanism design is in shaping a more benevolent and better environment.

Many people have the feeling that the environment on social media is becoming more and more "toxic".
