Writing Challenge: Day 2

Comfort food was always associated in my mind with unhealthy snacks or food. Before June/2020 I was the type of person who would go for a slice (or two) of pizza very late at night. I'm a night owl and for the past 3 months or so I mostly slept at dawn. My schedule left several hours at night in which I’m usually working on my translations and to be able to think straight I need to grab a bite.
Everytime I felt hungry at night I looked around and had the fastest food so that I don't lose time preparing anything. Be it baklava, pita bread with either cheese, baba ghanouj or hommos, croissants, noodles, pies or cakes with fresh cream. As you can see they were all high in calories! I also had a problem of eating while doing something else, so that made me forget to chew my food and therefore I ate more than I should 🙈
Despite the fact that I work out at home using my two dumbbells and Swiss ball or go on long walks most of the days, I started to feel the necessity to change my approach to food. My concerns weren't just associated with my weight but more with the type of food I surrounded myself with.
Lately I've built a habit of starting my day with 3 dates and green tea. Late at night I started to keep a plate of fruits like strawberries or grapes ready in case I felt hungry. I also found comfort in having lemon water with some nuts especially almonds, pistachios or walnuts.
Changing habits was never easy! 🥺
First week tortured me and made me realize how dependant I was on food to stay in a good mood and be able to function, but it was just the first week really! My job turned out to be easier after that and miraculously I stopped thinking about food 24/7 🍀
