What Would You Miss?

A few days ago, I communicated with some friends online about an interesting topic: what can't you live without when you go overseas?

I found it interesting because the first thing that came into my mind was nothing.

In my opinion, the amazing part of being overseas, traveling or on business, is that you can experience something different, such as scenery, food, culture, local friends, and so on. The beauty of the world comes from its diversity, and being overseas allows you to meet different cultures. So I think I can live with whatever the locals live with.

However, I suddenly remembered my experiences in Manila, Santorini and Paris. Then I realized that I couldn't live without boiled water.

That's the reason why I have an electric kettle specially for traveling.

What would you miss when you leave your own country?

I will miss the weather, speaking and hearing Pidgin English and Yoruba, the food, greeting people (even though I don't really like it now).

Thanks a lot!

`communicated` isn't wrong but is very formal. You often use it in business setting "I communicated to him that if he didn't fix this mistake he would be fired". Instead you can use "talking" even when you're not actually saying the words in person, is the more natural way (even if technically you're typing a message you can still say "I was talking with").

Without the "the" it sound weird. You can also put 'the' in front of all the others (e.g. ... the food, the culture, local friends, and so on.), but you don't need it for the other options. I have no idea why though sorry!

When I travel overseas, I really miss Melbourne's water. It's really good. When I return home I always quickly to get a drink.

Communicate is not wrong but has an emphasis on "you wanting to express something." In this situation, I think "talked/discussed/chatted" works better.

I found it interesting because the first , for me, nothing that came into my mind was nothingind.
