Japanese TV show "知りたガールと学ボーイ"

One of my favorite TV shows is called "知りたガールと学ボーイ"[shirita gāru to mana bōi]. I guess the title word "知りたガール" is mixed "しりたがる" and "ガール", and "学ボーイ" is from "学ぼう" and "ボーイ". The "知りたがる" is a combination "知る" and "〜たがる" meaning to eager to know, and "ガール" is a katakana word standing for "girl". The "学ぼう" means like "let's learn" and "ボーイ" is "boy". It's for Japanese junior high school students learning English. They try to discover some facts, such as about difference in expressions between English and Japanese. It's been ages since I graduated high school, but I who is even an adult found several things from this TV program, so I love it.

私の好きなテレビ番組の1つは、「知りたガールと学ボーイ」[shiri ta gāru to mana bōi] です。 タイトルの中の、「知りたガール」は「しりたがる」と「ガール」を混ぜたもの、「学ボーイ」は「学ぼう」と「ボーイ」で作ったのではないか、と思います。 「知りたがる」とは「知る」と「〜たがる」を組み合わせて "to eager to know" を意味するものです。「ガール」は「女の子」を表すカタカナ語です。 「学ぼう」は「let's learn」の意味で、「ボーイ」は「男の子」の意味です。 英語を学ぶ日本の中学生向けの番組です。番組では、英語と日本語の表現の違いなど、いくつかの事実を発見しようとしています。高校を卒業して久しいですが、大人になってしまった私でもこのテレビ番組からいくつも発見があって、なので大好きです。
