About horror media

When I was a child, my parents were very protective and they liked to control what I watched. It was not as bad as it sounds, though. I mostly watched cartoons and I really enjoyed it, but my friends at school used to make fun of me because I'd never watched a horror movie before. I had this friend that would just sit and list movie names non-stop for minutes checking if I really had never seen any of them and she would always insist that I should watch "The Mummy".
Then, one Sunday when I was 9 or 10 years-old, the movie "The Mummy" was going to be shown on TV. I asked my parents if I could watch it and they said it was okay. We all sat in front of the TV and I remember feeling very scared. Not because the movie, though. I was scared about the possibility of being scared. In the end, the movie wasn't even really scary, I remember thinking. It was actually funny.
I still feel the same thing whenever I watch horror movies of play horror games, scared about the possibility of being scared. But I adapted quite well to other pieces of horror medias. I love to read horror books and some of my favourite podcasts nowadays are horror podcasts. I think that the trick is to let my imagination do all the job. Also, it's more difficult to get a jump scare out of a book or a podcast.

When I was a child, my parents were very protective, and they liked to control what I watched. When I was a child, my parents were very protective, and they liked to control what I watched.

This is a super small correction, but the sentence just flows more smoothly with the comma I added.

It was not as bad as it sounds, though.

She would always insisttell me that I should watch "The Mummy". I had this friend who would just sit and list movie names non-stop for minutes, checking if I really had never seen any of them. She would always tell me that I should watch "The Mummy".

Again, this is a super nit-picky comment since it seems like your English is quite good, but it sounds better (at least to me) to say "she would always tell me that I should watch." Technically, "insist" in this case would take the subjunctive: "she would always insist that I watch." But again, this is a really nit-picky comment, and most native English speakers don't know the English subjunctive.

Then, one Sunday when I was 9 or 10 years-old, the movie "The Mummy" was going to be shown on TV.

I know what you mean by "pieces of horror medias," but it sounds very clumsy. ("Media" is also the plural of "medium," so "medias" is not grammatically correct.)
