My phone wallpaper is the album cover of The River by Bruce Springsteen. He is one of my favorite rock singers in America. Interestingly, I first discovered him wasn't because of his own songs, Instead, I heard a song that used his name to recall youth and to pay tribute to him, which was written by Eric Church. After that, I couldn’t stop listening to Bruce's songs, one after another, and The River became my favorite.
In most Chinese schools, electronic devices are banned, but e-dictionaries are allowed. So I downloaded The River onto my e-dictionary and brought it to school. There wasn't much joy there—just mechanical routines and endless assignments. But we still had a bit of free time between classes and before evening study sessions. During those moments, I would pick up my e-dictionary, walk around the campus (trying not to be noticed by the faculty), and listen to the music.（not only springsteen of course）
I can't remember if it was Freud who said it, but someone once suggested that joy is born out of deprivation. In any case, The River became one of my favorite albums.
