I generally use and hear 'one minute' rather then 'wait a minute'. what you put has more connotations with someone who is guilty of something- like if a police officer is talking to a suspect- still can work though.

I'm not really sure what you meant when you used 'punctual' here
This sentence means Japanese bus drivers are strict about time, and will get angry even if you're just slogging along because you don't understand something.
