In college, I wanted to study Spanish, but my professor/advisor said, "You should study Japanese because Japan is a neighbouring country of Taiwan." So, I took Japanese (Autumn of 2003 onward).
My use of Japanese is almost non-existent now.
But our time on Earth is brief.
I realize I can only do so much and have been concentrating on English.
I have forgotten most of my Japanese and only used it once in my life for a few minutes.
Every few years, I find a time to use Japanese, but I prefer to use English in real life.

I think it would sound more natural to say either "The Japanese Language" or just "Japanese"
