I saw a tweet today that said "There are no water heaters in stock in Japan because of the shortage of semiconductors". The water heater in my house broke last year. It was good that it broke last year. It was a silver lining.

今日、ツイッターで「半導体不足のため、日本国内には給湯器の在庫が全くない」というツイートを見ました。我が家の給湯器は昨年壊れました。昨年壊れてよかったです。不幸中の幸いです。

I saw a tweet today that said "There are no water heaters in stock in Japan because of the shortage of semiconductors".

I saw a tweet today that said, "There are no water heaters in stock in Japan because of the shortage of semiconductors". I saw a tweet today that said, "There are no water heaters in stock in Japan because of the shortage of semiconductors".

Using a comma before the opening quotation marks would be correct here. If the full-stop at the end of your sentence was actually part of the tweet, I would advise putting that full-stop in before the closing quotation marks. However, if the tweet itself showed no full-stop after the word, semiconductors, then putting the full-stop after the closing quotation marks would be correct because the full-stop is part of your own sentence. Examples: tweet: There are no water heaters in stock in Japan because of the shortage of semiconductors. [full-stop present in the tweet] quote: "There are no water heaters in stock in Japan because of the shortage of semiconductors." tweet: There are no water heaters in stock in Japan because of the shortage of semiconductors [no full-stop present] quote: "There are no water heaters in stock in Japan because of the shortage of semiconductors".

The water heater in my house broke last year.
