I've borrowed "twilight" by Stephenie Meyer from a library today. I think it's for the first time to read a romantic love story in English. Does "the little mermaid" count? I'm not sure. Since I've been mostly reading kids fantasy books, I'm psyched to try this new genre. I hope I like it.

It’s the first time I’m doing this = correct I’m doing this for the first time = correct “it is for the first time to read” - I’m sorry I have no idea why but this phrase doesn’t sound right so I have corrected it. There is probably a complicated grammar rule (which I don’t know even as a native speaker 😂). I have re-worded the sentence to how I would say this, to sound more natural. I understood your meaning perfectly though.
