Satanás by Mario Mendoza

I just want to be fluent and understandable in my English. Thank you very much.

Satanás isn't a book in my target language, so I'm sorry. But it's an amazing book in Spanish. I've read this book like ten times or more. I was obsessed with it. I'm not a person who enjoys reading books a lot, but really, this book caught me.

It tells us different stories that happened in Bogotá, Colombia. It's inspired by news about a veteran who committed a massacre in the Pozetto restaurant. Many citizens still remember that news. The book shows how three people with different lives, ended up crossing paths with Campo Elias. He is the man from the news. Each story shows the dark side of human nature: guilt, loneliness, and despair.

The most shocking thing about it, is that everything looks normal at the beginning, but little by little you can feel how the tension is rises until the end. It's a book that leaves you thinking about how any of us can reach our limit.

In “proper” English, one is not supposed to start a sentence with a conjunction, but I do it every day. I wouldn’t worry about this rule. In fact, AIs almost never start sentences with conjunctions, so this can be a useful indicator that you’ve done your own writing! I did still want to tell you because you might hear about this rule in formal writing or something of that nature.

It's a book that leaves you thinking about how any of us can reach our limit.

Filler words (las muletillas) are tricky. There are no set rules for punctuating them that I know of. I like to add commas in order to control the tone of my writing.

I was obsessed with it.

maybe try "used to be obsessed with it" for a slightly different feel/meaning

There are probably a lot of exceptions, but we like “take place” for fiction and “happen” for non-fiction.

the way it was written at first implies that the reader is already familiar with the place, but most readers will be hearing of it for the first time, so this is the introduction to the restaurant name

The wording here sounded slightly unnatural. I looked up this incident on Wikipedia and I think this phrasing fits better.

combined this with the previous sentence in a way I think would be more normal to hear/read
