Update on the Bats

On the weekend, I have written a journal about the bats that had flown into my bedroom.

I received four corrections on it, plus some encouragement. Thank you for that.

As you have asked for an update, here it is.

First, I tried to convince the bats not because I was worried, but because I was not sure how my wife would react to them. I know that she has a panic when she sees a toad, but about bats, I didn't know. When she came back from work (she works on weekends, her job is one of those people applauded to recently), everything was fine. She found the bats cute and gave them names.

When I checked at dawn, they were gone. They seem to be considerate animals: they made no noise and left no bat poop on the floor.

I have also found out what species the two belong to. It's the most common species of bats in here, and in summer, they look for a new place to sleep every morning. So, they haven't come back.

Maybe I will invest into bat houses this autumn. While it's easy and cheap to buy them, it's hard to install them on the outside wall of the house. If they are not high enough above ground, the bats don't find them. Climbing up really high on the ladder and drilling holes up there is, on the other side, a bit dangerous.

I know that she has a panicfit when she sees a toad, but about bats, I didn't know how she would feel about bats.

When she came back from work (she works on weekends, her job is one of those people applauded to recentlately), everything was fine.

Recently is also fine, but 'lately is more natural.

She found the bats cute and gave them names.

When I checked at dawn, they were gone.

They seem to be considerate animals: they made no noise and left no bat poop on the floor.

I have also found out what species the two belong to.

It's the most common species of bats inaround here, and in summer, they look for a new place to sleep every morning.

If they are not high enough above ground, the bats dwon't find them.

"Won't" or "can't."

Climbing up really high on the ladder and drilling holes up there is, on the other sidehand, a bit dangerous.

"On the other hand" is usually at the beginning of a sentence but it works here just fine.

I love that she named them.

Update on the Bats

Onver/AT the weekend, I have writwroten a journal about the bats that had flown into my bedroom.

At/Over the weekend - "at" is for something that you did at ONE POINT in the weekend; "over" is for something you did all/on two or more days of the weekend:

If you wrote the journal in 20 mins on Sunday = "At the weekend..."

If you started the journal on Saturday afternoon and finished Sunday night = "Over the weekend..."

"have written" is perfectly good, "wrote" just sounds more natural to me in this context.

I received four corrections on it, plus some encouragement.

Thank you for that.

As you have asked for an update, here it is.

First, I tried to convince the bats to leave not because I was worried, but because I was not sure how my wife would react to them.

What are you convincing them to do? To stay for dinner or leave your house? (I'm assuming you wanted them to leave)

I knoew that she has a panics when she sees a toad, but about bats, I didn't know.

Making both your "know" forms past tense sounds more natural than one present and one past. Both being past tense would work too.

When she came back from work (she works on weekends, her job is one of those people applauded to recently), everything was fine.

"in here" sounds like they are the most common IN YOUR HOUSE. No "in" makes it sound more like your region/country

So, they haven't come back.

Almost perfect! I have only made some of these corrections because your english is SO CLOSE to perfect - they are only minor mistakes. Well done with the journal, and the bats!
