When I was a student, we were not allowed to dye our hair or have ear piercings. My middle school even forbade us from covering our eyebrows with bangs because students were supposed to look vigorous, and long bangs were thought to make us look listless, which is a bit of a ridiculous reason. Our hair was checked every Monday, so on Mondays, girls would bring small scissors and trim their hair to the length that just touched but did not cover the eyebrows completely.
