Unas Universidades

Hoy, yo hablan con mi mamá sobre una universidad. Quiero ir Brown University, pero ella recomendar Carnegie Mellon University. Brown University sería muy bien, pero Lehigh University es la universidad a la que asistió la familia de mi papá. No estoy seguro de cómo elegir.

Today, I talked to my mom about a university. I want to go to Brown University, but she recommended Carnegie Mellon University. Brown University would be very good, but Lehigh University is the university my dad’s family attended. I’m not sure how to choose.

Brown University sestaría muy bien, pero Lehigh University es la universidad a la que asistió la familia de mi padre.

"papá" is not incorrect but sounds quite childish when you're talking about universities.

Just "recomendó", while it is correct, doesn't feel right to me. I would actually use "me recomendó" (recommended to me).

Hoy, yo hablané con mi mamá sobre una universidad.

"hablé" is the conjugation of "hablar" for "yo" in the past tense. And you can safely leave out the "yo", because the conjugation makes clear it was you who was talking :)

Quiero ir a Brown University, pero ella recomiendar Carnegie Mellon University.

Like in English, it's "ir a…" for "go to…". For "she recommends", you have to conjugate "recomendar", resulting in "recomienda". If you wanted "she recommended" you could put "recomendó" instead.

Hoy, yo hablané con mi mamá sobracerca de una universidad.

Quiero ir Brown University, pero ella recomiendar la Carnegie Mellon University.

Im treating University here as femenine, since you're talking about "La universidad".

No estoy seguro de cómo elegir.
