Third Day

I wanted to wake up early today because I didn’t do anything yesterday. I stayed in bed the whole day yesterday. But I eventually woke up after noon today.
Today, I took part in a meetup event where people exchange English and Japanese. I wanted to make new friends and speak English because almost all of my friends I met here have gone back to Japan. It’s hard for me to communicate with new people because I get nervous easily and I can’t speak English fluently. First, I translate English I hear into Japanese in my head, and then I translate Japanese I want to say back into English. So it takes too long. In fact, it takes too long to write this diary entry. I’ve decided to keep a journal, but I haven’t been following through. A simple question: what is the difference between a diary and a journal?
It’s time to close the library, so this concludes today’s diary entry.

S, so it takes too long. , so it takes too long.

This is a very short sentence. I would have added this to the last sentence after a comma: '...Japanese I want to say back into English, so it takes too long.'

A simple question: what is the difference between a diary and a journal? A simple question: what is the difference between a diary and a journal?

Really you could say diary or journal and a native English speaker would understand what you're saying either way. But a diary is a book that you are using exclusively for your thoughts, a journal may be more like daily observations. Again, you can say either and from context it's very clear what you're trying to say. However diary is ONLY used for personal thoughts, journal can either be for personal thoughts or like observations. Like a scientist may keep a journal on how many birds she sees on a tree, or she may keep a journal on her day, but she would NOT keep a diary about the birds.

A simple question: what is the difference between a diary and a journal? A simple question: what is the difference between a diary and a journal?

Based on my personal definitions, a diary is for writing about your thoughts and experiences in an informal way. A journal is used to record things and events. For example, documents about scientific experiments can be considered journals.

It’s time to close the library, so this concludes today’s diary entry.

It’s time to closeclosing time at the library, so this concludes today’s diary entry. It’s closing time at the library, so this concludes today’s diary entry.

You would say "It's time to close the library" only if you work for the library (i.e. if you are doing the work to close the library).

It’s time to close the libraryThe library is going to close, so this concludes today’s diary entry. The library is going to close, so this concludes today’s diary entry.

This just sounds more fluent. 'It's time to close the library' sounds like you are the librarian closing the library.

ButHowever, I eventually woke up after noon today. However, I eventually woke up after noon today.

Typically in English, we do not want to start a sentence with 'But'. It is not wrong to say, but at about age 12 we learn to not do this for better writing quality. A GREAT way to sound smarter is to say 'However, I eventually woke up after noon today'
