Tuesday

One of my students asked a break to go the doctor in the afternoon. His mother sas waiting outside the school gate, but he wrote the break request so slowly. I asked him why. The boy next to him told me that because he wasn't able to spell my fisrt name correctly. As my first name is a little complicated, there are so many people I meet who aren't good at studying can't write it corretly. I told my students that I was sure that at least ten of them couldn't write it correctly, either. They doubted that. I asked a boy to write my name on the blackboard. Unfortunately, he failed as I had predicted. I always tell them, a person who can't recognise words is called "litera blind."
In the morning, three new teachers were noted that they were going to a seminar in another town tomorrow. I read the file that temporary teachers like me should present as well. I was so happy that I didn't need to go which would cost me the whole morning. However, I was happy too early. In the evening, I was told that I should present, too. Ah, what a sad story! I hate that.

There are some characters I just can never seem to get right, haha. Or that I always write in a very ugly way.

As my first name is a little complicated, there are so many people I meet who aren't good at studying and can't write it correctly.

Luckily, my Chinese name is quite simple.

I told my students that I was sure that at least ten of them couldn't write it correctly, either.

They doubted that.

I asked a boy to write my name on the blackboard.

Unfortunately, he failed as I had predicted.

I always tell them, a person who can't recognise words is called "illitera blindte".

Is it that they can't recognize them or that they can't memorize them?

When I was in primary school, I hate to write my name very much.

Oh, so do you teach in Mandarin still? Or in the dialect? Wouldn't the character still be the same, just with different pronunciation/meaning?

Teach in Mandarin (用普通话教课)=/= teach mandarin (教中文课). 就想问你用不用普通话来教课哈哈。

I've missed the "the." Yes, I teach in Mandarin. All teachers are required to teach in Mandarin, but some olds can't pronounce correctly and frequently, so they teach in dialect sometimes. My dialect is more close to Cantonese, so the pronunciation is quite different from Mandarin while its meaning is quite close.

Oh, I see. How interesting! I've only been in the north, so I don't have much experience with that kind of accent/dialect

The dialects in the south are more diverse, I can't understand some of them. I think the accent in the north is like the American speak their English, because they really like pronouce "r."

Yeah, we Americans tend to pronounce r and not much else! I much prefer the American accent to the British one, though.
