But if you're describing something, you can't say "The guys left the party" if there are women in the group.

没有什么要改！只是有一个 capitalisation 的问题。对于guys的用法来说，我觉得guys可以包括女人！比如，hey guys！跟 hey everyone！大概有一样的意思。可能要看你跟谁讲话吧。guys 可能是“大家”最closest 的意思。比如，大家好！ vs hey guys！
抱歉，用英文跟中文写哈哈。中文不太好。
