The porridge from an axe. (part 1 of 2)

The old soldier went home to spent his vacation. He was tired of the walking and wanted to eat. He came to the village and knocked in the last house.
— Let the tired soldier rest!
The door was opened by the old woman.
— Come in, the soldier.
— Do you have anything to eat?
The old woman had enough food, but she didn't want to feed the soldier and she pretended to be an orphan.
— A kind man, I haven't eaten anything today.
— Ok, no means no.
Then he noticed an axe under a bench.
— Since there is nothing, then I can cook the porridge from an axe.
The hostess was surprised.
— How to cook the porridge from an axe?
— Give me a cauldron.
The old woman brought the cauldron, the soldier washed up the axe, put in the cauldron, poured water and put the cauldron on fire. The old woman watched to the soldier and didn't take her eyes off. The soldier took out a spoon, stirred his porridge and tried it.
