Feedback

If this were a declarative sentence, the order of words would be, "I was to infer from this that I should therefore feel just fine on six or seven hours' worth of sleep a night?" Since this is a question, however, the order of words is as it is in the original sentence.

The verb "was" comes first followed by the subject of the sentence, "I." Since "was" is a helper verb, the infinitive form of "infer" comes next, "Was I to infer ...?" Then the rest of the sentence follows.

Great question!

Thank you very much,
In my mind, past participle comes next verbs like am, are, or is.
Maybe I learned a new point of grammer

Yay! You're right, it usually does except when the sentence is an interrogative. In these cases, the subject comes after the verb.
