To prevent the unlimited stowaways crossing the river, during that period, the British government published a policy; once the stowaways were found crossing the river, the army police had a right to fire. Granduncle sadly said; “ I could hear gunshots in the darkness, bullets flying as Death kissed the river, saw blood from my peers, smelled rust odor in the air when I swam crossing the river as one of the stowaways. This experience torments me in my whole life. ” In my granduncle’s words, I was deeply shocked and a bleak and depressive aura infected me.
