I've recently watched The Queen's Gambit, a Netflix series about an extremely talented orphan named Beth, who also has a very troubling past. I practically devoured it in almost a day. It's been really long since I last watched something this captivating on the streaming platform mentioned before.
After a car accident in which her mom dies, Beth is sent to an orphanage where she meets Jolene, who's going to be her best friend. It is her that warns Beth about the green pills the orphans were forced to have. The pills are tranquilizers and they are very useful to Beth in an odd way. One day, when she was sent to the basement, the custodian of the orphanage playing chess caught her eye. Eventually, he teaches her to play and she turns out to be a prodigy. The green pills helped her play the game in her head, but also caused an addiction. As the story goes on, her talent will take her very far, but her addiction will bring her down.
Anya Taylor-Joy is the girl who portrays Beth from her teens onward. Apart from being astonishingly gorgeous herself, her character is extremely glamorous. During the chess tournaments, she is so passionate that it seems as if she could penetrate your soul with a gaze. Beth has a quite attractive personality too, specially as she grows up. I think Anya did an amazing job bringing this character to life.
I highly recommend watching The Queen's Gambit, as it's quite short and enjoyable.
I also wanted to add that I was really shocked when I saw a video of Anya speaking Argentine Spanish. I would have never expected her to!
I practically devoured it in almojust a day.
It is not grammatically wrong but I wonder if you meant “just” here.

Not wrong, but this sounds better.

Anya Taylor-Joy is the girlactress who portrays Beth from her teens onward.
Again, not wrong but I wonder if you meant “actress”.
