Nowadays social media takes an integral part of the modern world, and it is hard to overrate its significant role. Of course, there are many advantages and drawbacks of using social media in our daily life. In my point of view, social media might give us numerous pros so that it would be silly not to use them. The main advantages are listed down below.
The biggest and the most important advantage of social media is connectivity, the opportunity to connect with anyone and anywhere, if you have an internet connection. For example, today we don't need to travel in order to speak with a foreiner and we’re able to do it without much effort sitting on the chair, learning or sharing our opinion or thoughts. Another crucial benefit is the ability to be connected with your beloved, your family, so it becomes much easier to live in a distance with them, because we don’t feel this distance when we’re able to interact with them anytime.
Another important advantage is promoting your services or goods using social media. Local businesses can save a lot of money by not buying expensive advertisements on TV and contact their audience without intermediaries. As well as blogers, for whom social media became a place to work and earn money by giving people interesting or useful content. Social media actually is a reason for the appearance of a new stratum of people - videoblogers.
Another big advantage which I can’t miss is using social media for being updated on actual news. While news on TV and web sites are biased, using social media can show us real facts and existent situations without interpretation.
Meanwhile there are some drawbacks of using social media. In my point of view the main issue is the vulnerability of our privacy. In reality you don’t even need to be a hacker in order to find much personal information about a person, users of social media mostly are ready to share their personal data. But this fact doesn’t cancel out the risk of hacking, which is also very probable. The attackers can get your personal data and share it on the internet.
One of the other cons is the risk of becoming addicted to social media. It leads to excessive use and wasting time, not having enough physical activity and so on. It is especially dangerous for youth, their excesive use also can lead to mental issues due to comparing themselves with others. By the way, today’s social media with short videos, like Tiktok, might be very addictive because they give our brain dopamine, the “feel-good” chemical.
In conclusion, even though social media has very harmful drawbacks, it's impossible to imagine our life without all the benefits it gives us. The sole way to mitigate drawbacks is to prevent excesive use of social media by being conscious and disciplined enough.
Thank you!
The pros and cons of social media in today's society
Nowadays, social media takehas an integral part of the modern world, and it is hard to overrate its significantrole in modern society, and it is easy to underestimate its role.
Add a comma when starting a sentence with a transition word, like nowadays. Although your sentence makes grammatical sense, it is better to phrase the opening sentence on how integral social media is in modern society and how people tend to underestimate its role.
Of course, tThere are many advantages and drawbacks of using social media in our daily life.
I would not make something too obvious and simply state that there are many advantages and disadvantages of using social media.
InFrom my point of viewerspective, social media might give us numerous pros so that it would be silly not to use themay have numerous benefits.
Make your sentence more concise. I'm assuming that this is an argumentative essay, so it is necessary to give the benefits and drawbacks of social media as examples.
THere are the main advantages are listed down below.
Have a sentence to introduce the advantages of social media.
TOne of the biggest and the most important advantages of social media is connectivity, having the opportunity to connect with anyone andfrom anywhere, if you have an internet connection.
Since this is an opinion-based argument, I would state that having the opportunity to connect with anyone from around the world is a massive advantage, but may not be the biggest advantage depending on who your readers are.
For example, today we don't need to travel in order to speak with a foreiner and we’re able to do it without much effort sitting on the chair, learning orwe are able to talk to people from different countries without much effort. Plus, we get to learn how to sharinge our opinion or thoughts with others.
Your sentences are quite lengthy, so I broke them up into two separate sentences for readability purposes.
Another crucial benefit is tho be ability to bele to connected with your beloved, your family, so it becomes much easier to live in a distance with them, ones, such as your family and friends. It becomes much easier to stay connected with your loved ones from a distance because we don’t feel this distance when we’re able to interact with them anytime.
Your sentences are quite lengthy, so I broke them up into three separate sentences so people can read your arguments more easily.
Another important advantage is promoting your services or goods using social media.
Local businesses can save a lot of money by not buying expensive advertisements on TV and contacting their audience without intermediaries.
Use the same ending for both of your verbs, buying and contacting.
As well as bBloggers, for whom can use social media became a place to work and earn money by giving people interesting or useful contentto promote their content and potentially earn money.
Bloggers use social media to promote their content, and they can earn money from that. Bloggers give people interesting content and/or useful content, but that depends on what people find interesting and/or useful.
Social media actually is a reason for the appearance of a new stratum of people - videobis one of the reasons that vloggers exist.
A vlogger is someone who blogs their life with a camera.
Another big advantage which I can’t miss is using social media for being updated on actual news.
Actual news is subjective depending on who you're talking to, so it's better to generalize it to just news.
While news on TV and web sites are biased, using social media can show us real facts and existent situations without interpretation.
This sentence is not true at all. Social media is also full of biases and misinformation.
Meanwhile, there are some drawbacks of using social media.
Add a comma after the transition word, meanwhile.
In my point of viewFirst, the main issue is thehow vulnerability ofle our privacy is.
You want to start your first argument with a transition word, such as first. I also reworded the latter part of your sentence.
In reality, you don’t even need to be a hacker in order to find much personal information about a person, users of social media mostly are ready tosomeone. Social media users share their personal data for everyone to see.
I added a comma after the transition phrase, in reality. The phrasing of the second sentence is quite awkward; users of social media aren't mostly ready to share their personal data.
But this fact doesn’t cancel out the risk of hacking, which is also very probableHowever, this doesn’t negate the risk of getting hacked.
Negate or eliminate are better words to use when expressing how something doesn't completely eliminate the risk of an event, such as getting hacked.
The attackers can get your personal data and share it on the internet.
One of the Another cons is the risk of becoming addicted to social media.
I edited the first part of the sentence, one of the other cons, to make it shorter.
It leads to excessive use andExcessive use of social media leads to wasting time, and not having enough time for physical activity and so onother activities, such as maintaining relationships with friends and family.
Give specific examples of how excessive use of social media can lead to not having enough time to do other things.
ItExcessive usage of social media is especially dangerous for the youth, their excesive use also can lead to mental. Young people who are addicted to social media have a higher chance of having mental health problems, such as anxiety, depression, and body image issues, due to comparing themselves with others.
Provide examples of mental health problems that are caused by social media. Also, not all young people are addicted to social media.
By the way, today’s social media with short videos, likeSocial media platforms which use short-form content, such as TiktTok, might be verInstagram, and YouTube, may be extremely addictive because they give our brains lots of dopamine, also known as the “"feel- good”" chemical.
There are other social media platforms that use short-form content, like Instagram and YouTube.
In conclusion, even though social media has very harmful drawbacks, it's impossible to imagine our life without all the benefits it gives umore benefits than drawbacks.
Make your sentences more concise and less lengthy. You have a tendency to make your sentences extremely long.
The solOne way to mitigate these drawbacks is to prevent excesive use social media in moderation by being consciouse of how much social media by being consciouswe consume. Another way to negate these drawbacks is to set a timer on how much social media we can use per day, and be disciplined enough to stick to using social media for only a certain amount of time.
Thank you!
