yesterday
I've never been the kind of person who goes to the hair salon very often. When I have a special event, I usually do my hair at home. But also, since the pandemic, I've been cutting my own hair.
At first, I did it very badly, I cut too much or in a strange way many times. I still do it by following video tutorials. For many people, it's weird that I haven't been to a hair salon for almost five or six years. My husband and his friends think I'm strange because I like to cut my hair depending on the lunar phase, hahaha. I don't know why, but I really feel a difference; maybe it's just the placebo effect.
Also, I'm learning how to take care of and love my hair because I'm part of the curly team. It's difficult to look well-groomed without straightening my hair, but I’m learning to embrace it.
Thank you for reading!

I think British and American English has different expressions for "beauty salons." Also, it is interested how hair is *gendered.* Men go to BARBERS; women visit BEAUTICIANS.

One writing rule is that a comma should not go between two complete sentences. (Don't worry, native speakers ignore this all the time in informal writing.)
This writing seems to be kind of informal, so let me suggest a casual way to say this. "I would just cut off too much or completely mess it up." Saying "would" to talk about the past tense implies that something happened repeatedly.
I still do it by following video tutorials.

I think "lunar phase" is something that an astronomer is more likely to say than someone who is talking about their hair. I want to help the writing match your casual tone :)
Also, I'm learning how to take care of and love my hair, because I'm part of the curly team.
It's difficulthard to look well-groomed without straightening my hair, but I’m learning to embrace it.
If you want to sound casual, "hard" is better than "difficult."
