The first time visit IKEA in the USA

Today my geek friend and I measured my room and made a list to pick a desk and chair for the study place.

I love visiting IKEA when I was in China, the carteen there has an excellent meatballs, strange but yummy soup, and 1 RMB ice cream! So I was really looking forward to visit IKEA in USA, I think the shop would be bigger and have many special item.

Unfortunately, when we arrived there, half of the food is out of storage (so IKEA’s style!) , so I have no choice but only a kid meal. The lucky thing is that I had the meatballs and also bought one bag to enjoy.

You have to clarify who or what is visiting.

using an here indicates there is only one meatball, later you pluralized to meatballs so there is more than one

So I was really looking forward to visiting IKEA in USA, I think the shoptore would be bigger and have many special items.

Unfortunately, when we arrived there, half of the food is out of storagwas not available (so IKEA’s style!) , so I didn't have noa choice but onlyexcept for a kid's meal.

Very awkward sounding.

'is' is present tense and 'was' is past tense, you need to use past tense here unless you just finished eating the meatballs

Feedback

Can't blame you for writing about their meatballs, I love them as well. Good job writing.

Wrong tense here, should be 'will'.

"Geek friend" sounds kind of mean but I'm older. Maybe you can say, "my technologically advanced friend" instead?

Yay! That sounds like IKEAS in the US, too.

Wow, thanks! I think the phrase you recommended is more formal and polite to use! For my opinion, since the influence of technology industry’s growth, many young people who dive into the computer are proud of being called geek, I was also one of them. I think it is interesting to look into how economy power twist a word emotional meaning.

Thanks for letting me know that people are proud to be called a geek these days. Maybe I can use it more to describe my friends and, especially, myself. :)
