The First Time I Took a Bus

When I was fifteen years old, I took a bus for the first time.

I graduated from middle school that year, and I needed to take the middle school graduation exam that was held in the county town.

My middle school was located in my hometown, which was 33 kilometers away from the county town.

There were only two buses that commuted between my hometown and the county town. One departed in the morning and the other departed in the afternoon.

There were not enough buses for passengers, so if you didn't catch the bus early, you would not be able to get on the bus because the seats were already fully taken.

The time that I took the bus was not only myself, but also my classmates and my teachers.

The whole trip to the county town took us a little more than an hour. After we arrived in the county town, we checked in at a private hotel and prepared for the exam the next day.

Interestingly, it was also the first time I went to the county town.

Thank you very much. If I just say I am going to a county, you won't know the exact location I am going to because a county in my region is so large. It usually occupies an area of around 2000 square kilometers. Most of the time, when we say we are going to x county, we mean the capital town of the county, the town that the county government is located in. I didn't know how to say it in English, so I looked it up in an electrical dictionary, which said it was county town or county seat.

I see what you mean. You can say that you went to the capital of the county. It sounds more natural.
