The First Day in New York (117)
I went to New York last week with my friend.
The first day was quite challenging for us because this is our first time visiting New York.
We had to get our train tickets for the next day.
We were suppose to go to Philadelphia to meet my friend on the second day.
First, we needed to go to Moynihan Train Hall to buy our tickets, but it took some time to find it.
After finding the train hall, we had trouble communicating with a staff in the ticket counter.
It wasn't difficult for us to get tickets, but when we asked which platform the train comes, we couldn't understand what he said.
So we asked him again, and he explained again speaking slowly.
When we finally understood what he said we were relieved.
先週友達とニューヨークへ行きました。
今回は、私たちにとって初めてのニューヨークなので、最初の日はかなり頑張りました。
私達は、次の日の電車のチケットを取らなければなりませんでした。
私達は、二日目にフィラデルフィアの友達を訪ねることになっていました。
最初に、チケットを買うためにモイニハントレインホール行く必要がありましたが、その駅を見つけるのに時間がかかりました。

チケットを買うのは難しくなかったけど、でも何番線にその電車が来るかを聞いた時、彼の言ったことが理解できませんでした。
だから私たちは、もう一度聞いて、そして彼は少しゆっくり話して説明してくれました。
やっと理解できた時、私達はホッとしました。

Also, there are different regions of New York. Most people associate New York with New York City (NYC), but there are other notable towns within New York. There's Ithaca, where there are lots of beautiful waterfalls, which the locals call the gorges.

Talking to people in New York (sometimes called "New Yorkers") can be challenging, so that's great you were able to understand what the staff said! It's said sometimes that people in New York are known for talking fast. Also, many people in New York speak with a New York accent, which is different from standard American English.
