The Dreaded PE Midterm

I have a midterm exam in my PE class next week. The test involves performing exercises for different body parts and identifying the primary muscle groups associated with each. We'll be tested on two out of five possible body parts: shoulders, chest, back, anterior legs, and posterior legs. On exam day, the teacher will randomly select two body parts for each student.

The test has three parts. First, we need to name the major muscle groups for the chosen body parts. Second, we must identify at least two exercises that target each part. Lastly, we have to perform at least one exercise for each selected area.

For example, If the teacher picks chest and back for me, I'd start by naming the key muscles: the pectoralis major and minor for the chest, and the latissimus dorsi, middle and lower trapezius, and teres major for the back. After identifying the muscles, I’d list some exercises for each area: barbell bench press, dumbbell bench press, and flat dumbbell fly for the chest; one-arm dumbbell row, bent-over barbell row, bent-over dumbbell fly, and pull-up for the back. Finally, I have to perform at least one exercise for each of the selected body parts.

I think I'll be alright if the teacher doesn't pick chest for me. If he does, I'm screwed. My chest muscles are so weak that every time I try to bench press, I feel I'm stuck under the bar, almost unable to budge it off my chest. Even with only the lightest weight plates (10 pounds per side) or only the bar itself, it still feels like pushing a mountain away.

The flat dumbbell fly gives me an even harder time. I can barely bring my arms forward and complete a full repetition with dumbbells heavier than 10 pounds each. Once, when I tried to lift over 20 pounds total, my arms shook uncontrollably, and I nearly dropped the dumbbells onto my face. Oh man, if only my pecs would somehow magically sprout some strength on exam day...but knowing them, they'll probably just fail me, as usual.
