The cram school

My youngest son goes to the cram school this year. I took a day off today and go to the school to talk to his teacher. She gave us some advices. He is good at math and science. However, he is not good at Japanese and English. He needs to improve those subjects.

Corrections

He is good at math and science.

"Math" is fine. I think the other person that corrected your entry is from the UK or Australia because they usually say "maths". American English doesn't add an "s" to "math".

Your son is not improving the subjects themselves, he is improving in regards to those subjects. Therefore, we use the preposition 'on' here.
