The Cenozoic (literally 'the new life') is a geological era in which we live. Preceded by the Paleozoic and the Mesozoic, it started 66 million years ago with the Cretaceous-Paleogene extinction event attributed to the impact of a large asteroid. At that time the dinosaurs became extinct.
Whin (in Northern England or Scotland) is another name for a gorse (=a furze, =Ulex). It is an evergreen thorny bush with small yellow flowers. The species are native to parts of Western Europe and northwest Africa and invasive in North America, notably in California and Oregon. Unfortunately, gorse does not grow as much north as in Russia, and you are unlikely to encounter it in a park or outside the city.

This was written to a very high level and could understand everything, great work!
(I found this funny as I am from Scotland and have spent time this summer trying to remove whin/gorse bushes from my land. We consider them almost like weeds in my area. They are full of thorns, are very resilient and spread very, very quickly.)
