Teaching My Friend Go
I‘d like to talk about the experience of teaching one of my friends to play Go.
We were in primary school, and he grew a massive interest in playing Go as I talked about how glamorous it was. Then I invited him to my home during the summer break to teach him.
Although I was an advanced player then, I still found it tricky to teach a beginner and impart my knowledge/skills, as this was my first time doing this. I decided to read some Go books and watch videos by other Go instructors. It helped a lot. I was able to communicate more clearly about my understanding of this sport and to share my expertise. My friend learned basic rules and techniques in just a few weeks.
I was proud of what I had done because I not only improved my teaching skill but also shared something wonderful and precious with other people.
