I work in a counter style restaurant were I have direct interactions with the clients and yesterday I found myself a little lost talking in English about things they were interested to know about me and the work
They said
“You guys have so many wines, there is thousand of labels, do you know them all?”
“They are hand picked by the owner and our sommelier, we have some tastings from time to time
I am not a expert, but I tasted them all and have some ideia of most of them, mostly to help the clients
Since I am from Brasil, and we don’t drink wine there, just beer, it was awesome for me having those tastings and developing the knowledge.
In Brasil wine is a luxury and people don’t see well people that say they know about it, but coming here made me see that is not that complex and only for rich people as averyone there thinks so”
Talking with cClients / Customers
Typically “client” is used when talking about business-to-business services (eg banking, financial services, advertising agencies, etc.). “Customer” is more generally used when talking about business-to-consumer interactions like restaurants or retail stores, etc.
Some restaurants do refer to their customers as “clientele” or “guests” etc.
