“Take a ferry” would be correct if you were ordering someone to do this.

To me, your sentence could mean that you would have ride on both ferries: board one ferry, ride on it, transfer to the other, and ride it to the wharves near your home. My correction means either of them could get you there.

Normally, I wouldn't choose the ferries because they are always crowded with travelers (tourists?).

“Travelers” could mean commuters on their way to/from work. Do you mean tourists?

That day, ona Sunday, I was so relaxed that I told myself, "Just being a travelerourist".

“Tourist” makes more sense here than “traveler,” since you would still be a traveler even if you took the subway.

Then I took the ferry for 2 yuan.

If you’re going to mention both ferries earlier, and if you’re only going to take one them, not both, then change this to: “Then I took one of the ferries for 2 yuan.”

Since this is about you doing the action, i changed the verb to a progressive verb.

Because you are talking about a river I thought you meant at first 'the bend' which is a natural curve point in the river. But you're referring to a region in Shanghai with European influence and has its own Wikipedia page, so I capitalized it.
