Studying Abroad

I've always wanted to study abroad. Today I browsed some schools' official websites, where I found application requirements set really high.
As I don't have friends or relatives who have relevant experiences, application seems hard while I am faced with my currunt studies.
Actually, I have the chance to enter free into the PhD programs of my current school, but I think I will aim higher and do some extraordinary things.
I am still studying for my bachelor's degree, so my friends said it was too early for me to consider further studies, and I'm not qualified for the requirements.
With difficulties of application and lack of information, I feel I'm drowned in uncertainties.

Interesting. What field(s) are you wishing to study? I was a professor of economics at a university in Tokyo, but have recently retired.
Do you wish to study in any country in particular?

Nice meeting you, professor. I'm a freshman studying the Eight-Year Clinical Medicine Program at a university in ShangHai. It's an honour to enter such a program in others' view, but I feel it's also a chain that tights me. I think I prefer English-speaking countries (actually I also like Japan but I'm not sure whether I'll have to learn Japanese.) I intend to study abroad not for leisure but to conduct academic research in a more advanced environment, so maybe I will consider studying at a higher-level university. Thank you anyway!

Not sure if I agree... aren't the requirements usually based on your bachelor's? Might be a good time to start thinking about it at least
