Star Wars Episode 9

Please rest assured this message has no spoiler.

I'm a big fan of Star Wars. Episode 9 which I had been looking forward to finally was released and I went to see it yesterday. I was impressed as it was much better than I expected.
But on the internet, especially in America, the reviews are pretty bad.
There're novels of Star Wars. It seems the story of the movie is quite different from that of the novel. This is not only reason for a bad reputation though.
I'm now reading a book of Episode 4 but am still halfway through as the book is in English.
I think Episode 8 was really awful so I was concerned about how J.J. Abrams as the director would put the stories together in Episode 9. I think he did very well.
I reckon there're no useless scenes and the story develops quickly, and above all, the actress starring Ray, a main character, expresses her emotion very skillfully, which makes this movie much better.
There're pros and cons for the reviews, but I believe the story of Episode 7 to 9 perfectly pairs up with that of Episode 4 to 6, therefore, this movie has been finished off wonderfully.

I'm a big fan of Star Wars.

Episode 9, which I had been looking forward to, finally was released and I went to see it yesterday.

A statement this simple and short is a bit unnatural. It sounds better to combine it with a larger thought.

I, but it seems the story of the movie is quite different from that of the novel.

This is not only reason for aits bad reputation though.

I'm now reading athe book of Episode 44 novelization but am still only halfway through as the book is in English.

"still only" sounds more natural when you are talking about time/distance and a hindrance. Also, there is technically nothing wrong with "book of Episode 4" but "novelization" is a very useful word here and it sounds a bit more natural.

I think Episode 8 was really awful so I was concerned about how J.

J.

Abrams as the director would put the stories together in Episode 9.

I think he did very well.

I reckon there're no useless scenes and the story develops quickly, and above all, the actress starring as Ray, a main character, expresses her emotion very skillfully, which makes this movie much better.

There're pros and cons for the reviews, but I believe the story of Episode 7 to 9 perfectly pairs up with that of Episode 4 to 6, t. Therefore, this movie has been finished off wonderfullya wonderful accomplishment.

"finish off" sounds more grand than just the accomplishment of one movie. You could say "this movie has finished off the Star Wars series wonderfully" and it would sound perfect. If you want to refer to the movie only, I reworded it to be more natural.

Feedback

Great review! I saw episode 9 and though I didn't like it quite as much as you did, I liked it better than many reviewers did. One note about your use of "there're" etc., I did not correct these because it does sound quite like a native speaking out loud, but writing it very often is a bit unusual. I think it's a bit like if someone writing in Japanese replaced every single instance of では with じゃ. Sometimes it would sound natural, other times it might be a bit over the top. Overall, excellent writing! Keep it up!

I missed a correction here, but I think others have caught it. It should be "This is not *the* only reason..."

I just checked, and the character's name is actually spelt "Rey." No big deal of course!

Thank you for the correction! I've thought it's Ray😆 Maybe the pronunciation between Ray and Rey is different?
I learned when writing English, we should write without shortning words, that's not they're but they are. But recently I think it's better to use shortened words in writing so that I can catch what English native speakers say. Many Japanese people say a word each, it means we say "you/should/have/come/here/earlier" but many English native speakers say "you should've come here earlier". I think this is one of the reasons why many Japanese people can't catch English words. Which do you think it's better, writing in no shortened words or in shortened words??😣

No problem! "Ray" and "Rey" are pronounced the same (at least in my accent). Don't worry about it too much. "Ray" is actually a common male name in English, so I bet a lot of English speakers would write "Ray" too!

In English, we call the shortened words "contractions."

Contractions are less formal than writing out entire words, but I almost always write with contractions. You're right - it's how I speak, and it feels more natural to me. "There're" vs "there are" is one of those weird exceptions where everybody says one but writes the other haha.

Oh I learned a new word, contractions! Thank for telling me😄 ひらめいた!I will post with contraction sentences but it's a short message, and post with entire words separately. Then I will ask to check my contraction words if they are used correctly😁😁

Thank you for the correction!(^^) I thought "plot" equals "summary". Is it different in the meaning? Is "story" in moviesm or animations meaning "plot"?
