Spy x Family, I'm up to page 42 (37)
I've been reading English version Spy x Family lately and I'm up to page 42.
It's really hard for me.
I find about 5 new words each page.
I look up some interesting words, but not everything.
Sometimes, I'm happy and excited when I come across cool phrase.
For example, "Boss, we're intercepting some kinda transmission!". This is so cool.
I don't think I would say this in my real life, but at least, it would be better to know.
I will be able to enjoy Spy x Family more, if I have lots of vocabularies.
最近、英語版のスパイファミリーを読んでいて、今42ページです。
ほんとに、難しいです。
だいたい、1ぺーじにつき5個位の新しい言葉があります。
全部調べないけど、気になる単語は調べます。
時々とてもいいフレーズを見つけると嬉しいです。
例えば、「ボス、怪しい通信を傍受しました。」これは、とってもかっこいいセリフですね。
このセリフを実生活で使うことはないかもしれないけど、知ってたほうがいいと思う。
知ってたら、もっとスパイファミリーを楽しめるからね！

Keep going, sachisachiさん！ I can only speak from my experience, but reading comics is tough because there are many slang words and short hand words. However, I find if you make it past the first 40-50 pages, the vocabulary starts to repeat and you become faster and faster.
I managed to finish Akira in Japanese. I understood probably 80% of the story. However, reading comics in Japanese is fun, and a reward for my hard studying. So I continue regardless.

I've been reading the English version of Spy x Family lately and I'm up to page 42 now.
When you say "I've been <doing something> lately, and <result>", most native speakers say something like ", and now <result>" or "and <result> now." That's why I added "now" to the sentence. I feel it distinguishes the part that happened in the past, and your current status in the present.
It's really hard for me.
You could also say "It's been really hard for me" since the thing that was hard for you is "I've been reading..." so the tenses match up better.

"Some kinda"/"Some kind of" is actually really common, especially in everyday English.

"Kinda"/"kind of" is a great and super versatile filler word in English. Native speakers use it all the time in daily life. ChatGPT tells me it is like まあ or なんか or ちょっと. I even almost wrote "it is kinda like" just out of pure reflex.

A reflex is something that your body does without conscious control. If something startles you and you flinch, that's usually a reflex.
I say "kinda" so often when I speak that it feels like a reflex. "I did it out of reflex."
"Out of (thing)" is another way to say "because of." It is usually used when talking about motivations behind people's actions. Examples like "I did it out of love for humanity", "He stole my pen out of spite."

Neither your original title nor my correction is a complete sentence, but seeing "I'm up to" made it feel like it should be a complete sentence.

I would probably write it "Lately, I've been reading Spy x Family in English and am about 42 pages in."

I don't think "sometimes" can be used this way because as an adverb, it can modify "happy" so it comes across to me as potentially reading like there are times when you come across cool phrases, but you don't feel happy or excited.
Using "happy" and "excited" this way can come across a little childish. I'd probably say: "I really enjoy coming across new, cool phrases."

I know the feeling. Right now I'm playing Persona 3 Reload in Japanese and I'm consulting my dictionary almost every line. Some Japanese learners do write down just about every word they don't know, though I and many others consult a frequency dictionary to estimate how likely we are to hear a word again and whether or not we need to know it. I wonder if there's something like that for English learners.

Vocabularies isn't really a word in that sense, vocabulary is 語彙力.

The hard part of spy family anime for me is whenever the narrator speaks! The political situation is described using sometimes very stiff formal language.
