I watched a trivia show today. According to it, there is a building where you can ski on the roof in Denmark. I thought it would be fun, and I remembered that there was an indoor ski resort about 30 years ago in Japan.

'was' is correct but 'used to be' sounds better as it indicates that the resort was established for a long period of time, not as a one-time thing. Nonetheless, both are CORRECT.
