I was born in Argentina, although I currently live in a small village near the dam Taiwan, where the air is fresh and clean.
Fireflies can be seen on summer nights.
I've always loved the countryside.
I enjoy spending time outdoors.
I love hiking in the mountains.
I prefer Chinese tea to coffee.
I have a passion for reading.
Historical books are my favorite.
At the end of the Qing Dynasty, Russia occupied northeast China like a bear.
Britain occupied Hong Kong and Portugal occupied Macau.
The Japanese occupied many places including Taiwan.

There are many dams in Taiwan so saying "the" when we do not know the dam or its name does not make sense.

Very interesting, I haven't really studied the history in the East, but judging from what you said there must be a lot of details and interesting historical events that happened during the Qing Dynasty in China. Your English is very good and I suggest writing more complex, using words that are hard to spell and writing in long sentences to see how far your grammar and vocabulary will take you, it will also help you learn more.
