"I like to cook" implies that you are involved in preparing the food. "to cook" in this sense is an action verb. "I like cooking", on the other hand, sounds to me that you have an interest in the subject. Cooking in this sense could be a noun. In other words, you enjoy the idea or the concept of cooking. A lot of verbs, when adding "ing" to the end, become a noun. Such as I like skiing, I like sailing, I like playing the piano. Another good way to tell whether you should use "to cook" or "cooking" is whether it would prompt a question. If you tell me "I like to cook", I would be curious what it is you like to cook, but if you tell me "I like cooking", I would just assume that in general, you have an interest and you enjoy cooking.

You're welcome and have a happy and healthy new year. It is way past midnight in China, so welcome to 2021. Meanwhile, the time is still before noon on New Year Eve in California.
