The No-English-Rule
A few weeks ago, I saw a Tedx Talk about language learning. The host was Scott Young and his friend. They went to Brazil, China, South Korea and Spain to learn a language in three months, respectively.
Their method consists, basically in one simple rule: not speaking English, but it can be applied to any language by using only your target language.
Scott Young tells us an anecdote: he went to France hoping to speak French but he only used English and when he came back, his French didn't improve as expected.
These are three steps to use the no-English-method:
1. Find someone to talk with, but only using your target language.
It can be another language learner or a native speaker.
2. Commit to talk to him/her in your target language.
3. Speak!
It's ok to make mistakes, you see, we all are humans and we do make mistakes by nature. Ask your partner to correct you when you make a mistake. Otherwise, you'll make the same mistake over and over again.
