A piece of my mind - Chinese new year's eve

It's a hard day for me.

It's Chinese new year's eve tonight and all my friends and family back in homwtown are sending greetings to each other. They are busy posting pitures of their big dinner with family members, watching the Chinese new year gala show together and even dressing up their pets at home. Meanwhile , I registered a online therapy service called Betterhelp and tried to answer mom's question about what I am going to do tonight to celebrate new year’s eve. Nothing to celebrate for me to be honest , but I can't tell her about this ,especially at this very special day for family union and fullfilled with hope for next year.

I typed few words, then deleted it. Repeated. I gave up. "Wish you a happy new year!" Done. I'm afraid she would notice my situation if I say anything else.

Mom prepared red packets for both of us. It's a trandition that the older in the family will give red packets to kids. Usually they will put cash or any other valuable stuff like gold coins inside. It's also called lucky money, so it doesn't matter how much they put inside. And some partents will help the kid to open a saving account and teach them a little bit of financial knowledge at young age. Also with the rapid growth of social media, people start using chatting apps to send e-red packets. You can customize the cover and I see lots of them using AI-generated pictures as cover now.

"Wish you happy new year!" I said to myself and to you.
